Richard's Rapier or the regular Rapier?

Alright, so I've been trying to decide an off hand weapon for my dex build and I looked at the Wikia on Richard's Raipier and the Raiper. I've noticed that the Rapier has a C in dex scaling, but goes to a B if upgraded, and has a base damage of 182ish at +15. Richard's Rapier has lower damage at 170ish, but has A scaling. So my question is, would the Richard's Rapier do more damage than the regular Rapier with 40 dex?

Rickard's Rapier will definitely go farther. Higher Scaling is always preferable to base damage, especially late game.

Ricards Rapier is to be preferred, especially if you use weapon buffs of any kind.

EDIT: The R2 attacks are so useful for stacking up a lot of weapon buff damage.

As others have said, Ricard's on a Dex build. I could see the appeal of the others if you're investing minimal stats and taking them to Chaos/Lightning though.

Regular rapier has better criticals. Also the R2 on Ricard's is too predictable in PvP.

So if you can BS and P/R you're going to get higher damage with the rapier. Especially with Hornet ring. It's slower and shorter than Ricard's though. I use both.

If you are making a pure dex build, ricard's rapier will have a slightly better dmg. But as already stated, the regular rapier is a beast for bs and p/r... And its r2 is quite effective. If you are making a quality build, it will even be stronger than ricard' rapier.

Ricard's is fun to use, but Rapier is better fpr PvP, due to the reasons stated above. I like the Estoc best myself (longer, nice swipes with the 1h strong attack).
