is Avelyn +15 any good?

I know, that commonly people ascemd this little thing into Lightning path, with usage of lightning bolts. But i`m curious, is ordinary Avelyn +15 with heavy bolts any good?

It's just fine. I think people choose an elemental path with crossbows because they have no scaling anyway, and lightning is commonly chosen since there's lightning bolts and its best not to split the damage even further. If there was fire bolts I'm sure fire would be more popular.

Ordinary Avelyn with Heavy Bolts will do more damage at higher levels against your enemies due to the fact that even if Lighting has more base damage, it is reduced by both Physical and Lightning resistance. The higher the level of your enemy, the more resistance they will have. So whether or not you choose to go either +15 or +5 lightning depends on how far you want to go in terms of level and your opponent's level. Not only that Lightning bolts are pretty expensive if you are not active in either farming nor pvp for the souls.

Hm, to be honest, i never saw people use elemental light crossbow or a heavy one (with exception of magic/divine light crossbow)

The reason people tend to go lightning on Avelyn is chip damage. Primarily, Avelyn isn't used for attacks--it's used to punish turtles by chipping their stamina and health while maintaining range.

avelyn is only good if u hit all 3 bolts, if 1 misses u have less dmg then with a normal xbow.

probably when fighting a tree i cant recall 1 single time when i were hit by 3 bolts lol...

If you want to try something interesting, use an avelyn +15 with leo ring. Bolts count as thrust damage.

I use a +15 Avelyn and it does more damage than a fully upgraded Gough's Greatbow
