Sif the lag dog
why do i lag so much when fighting sif, its fine when he is far away but as soon as he gets next to me my frames drop to about 1-5 fps? does anybody know the issue, if so maybe a solution as well?

edit: ive found lowering my antiostropic filtering for dark souls almost nearly fixed the problem ive had with lag near fire, sif, and lava land. it was set at 16x and i lowered it to about 2x and now i dont experience any of that damned particle lag an such.

The same thing happened to me, if you have dsfix you can set the internal rendering resolution to something low like 800x600 or 1024x768, and then set the window size to your native resolution. i got around a 10-15 fps increase all around, but some areas of the game will still lag you (blighttown, etc.)

You should see it on a system like mine then where the fps never drop below 60fps.

my god ive done it, while the internal rendering change increased general fps in such. ive found lowering my antiostropic filtering for dark souls almost nearly fixed the problem ive had with lag near fire, sif, and lava land. it was set at 16x and i lowered it to about 2x and now i dont experience any of that damned particle lag an such.

only took me about 832 hours to figure it out...hope this helps anyone with a similar problem :tgrin:

Its that high res fluffy fur on Sif. Most computers have trouble with all that fluff :squirtyay:

edit : hold up did OP just bump a thread of his almost a year old?

Have fun fighting Seath then.
He'll ruin your framerate, but it seems like your issue was fixed.

I should get dsfix as well, the only point I thought I would really need it was Seath because when he does his crystal quake attack it lowers my framerate to a crawl, but I beat him with ease(got the Tail weapon too).

He lags so much because of his fur being made of particles and high poly mesh to make it actually have a fur-like effect.Definitely the most challenging part of the boss battle.

It seems like he wanted to help people out. From how he/she worded it, it took him/her nearly 836 hours to get Dsfix to work.

So everything I said in my previous post is all for nothing :(

maybe you never had the problem but, ive had dsfix this whole time but there was never anything for the particles and blah blah, i get 60 fps in almost every area, but whenever there was sifs fluff, or evil bridge dragon lag fire i would get booted for the big drop in fps. so it took till now but i found i had to go to NIVcontrol and set AF to x2 /x4 because it was at 16x origanally, which was causing the big lag whenever there was lots of particles.

You also shouldn't (speaking to anyone in general) be afraid to mess around with any or all of the settings , like for instance. FXAA works better for me than SMAA for my AA and for AO, VSSAO2 also looks and works better for me. So experiment and tweak with the settings, dont keep the defaults settings.
