However, where this is useful, is being able to quickly reload your game back to the last save; especially if you use the AutoHotKey - you can reload from in-game. As well as that, since you're choosing when to save (not a timer) you can make sure it's at the important times - 15minutes on DSfix is more than enough to have completed an area + boss, which isn't something you'd want to lose.
So far, the ways I've found of forcing the game to save are:
- Quitting
- Using Bonfires
- Picking up items
- Changing Equipment, even just unequiping/requipping your axe.
Are there any other ways you can make the game save at a specific point?
Such great thinkings
Haha, pressing start and exiting the overlay saves it. It also saves whenever you get souls. You don't need to unequip anything etc.
PS it sounds awesome. thanx for your hard work
Since it's so simple in how it works; I don't see any reason dsfix autobackup couldn't run at the same time. Whether you want to have to manage two sets of backups/saves though is a different matter :P
TIL.
I start DarkSaves.exe > I set the path to my savegame > I made a new Set and I saved my savegame. After walking a little bit around, I've tried to Alt-Tab and click the load button, nothing happens.
I have also no idea how to set the hot keys... :-(
To load the game, you need to be back on the main-menu, otherwise it autosaves back over the loaded data. It's unfortunately just a problem from how the game handles save data.
For hotkeys, you need to use a tool called AutoHotKey and edit it as per instructions - this is just because DarkSouls steals all hotkeys from the windows-event cycle; so unfortunately it needs an additional program to handle it.
Hope that helps :)
