But to be fair, most of the unique weapons really aren't that great compared to any number of more mundane weapons. One of the ironies of DS: by the time you manage to get something like the obsidian greatsword, some weapon you found early in the game just lying on the ground has been upgraded to the point that the obsidian greatsword is already outclassed.
Here's some numbers from the character planner, set at 50 Str and 18 Dex:
BK Halberd: 510
Man-Sword: 529
Chaos Man-Sword, 5 Humanity: 535
Stone Greatsword: 528
Yeah Jacob, the halberd really makes the game a lot easier. Its giant reach, amazing damage and fast attack speed make it, in my opinion, the best weapon you can get. Whats more, you can get it 10 minutes into playing the game. Pump points into STR until you are at 22 and proceed to one shot everything for the next 4-5 zones while 2 handing. I thought after a while I would replace my halberd, but it is still the best option. Can't wait to get the leo ring on my new game plus.... it will be even better...
