Something about the lore that bothers me alot
Not sure if its mentioned ingame. But are humans extinct? We dont see a single human ingame, all are undead - both mobs and NPCs?

Im also wondering where humans have their place / had their time. So immortal dragons ruled the world, did humans have kingdoms and live normally during this time? Did the age of fire "spawn" humans into the world and only then did they appear?

Im trying to get a grip of the timeline but this timeline lore vid I found on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iuhu8Gw50Ig) doesent really go into details about humans.

As Dark Souls seems to be a high fantasy setting Im wondering if humans are magical in nature in this game or natural.

So yeah, how exactly does normal humans fit into the whole picture? How will a new age of fire or an age of dark affect regular humans? Will it - at all?

So is Lordran just a single kingdom? A continent? Lordran is where all undead are sent and Anor Londo is its capital then?

It seems strange because Gwyn and his crew defeated the dragons, something that would be a GLOBAL threat? It just seems that everything happening in Lordran including all the important lore characters - would be something that would/could affect the world as a whole. So the ending choice you make only effects Lordran and not the rest of the world?

There is at least 1 human we meet in the game that I know of. Sieglinde of Catarina[darksouls.wikidot.com] is not undead, and is in search of her undead father.

I think Lordran is a kingdom, I can't remmeber if they state it exactly, but it seems implied anyway. The dragons were probably a global issue, but they are (more or less) all gone now. And it does effect the whole world, because places outside of Lordran like Oolacile were clearly taken over. We don't know how much of the world has been taken by the abyss, but we do know there are more humans. Somebody has to have banished you, right?

Yea Lordran is basically a place exclusively for undead. At least thats how it is in the time when we are playing in dark souls. In the past it may have been different, i believe Oolacile was a human city and that is in Darkroot. It is told to us by Ingward that New Londo was built as an undead city so i dont think that undead were always treated as monsters to be locked away if they built an entire city for themselves. Also the fact that theres human and giant sized areas in Anor Londo would suggest that they frequented that place enough to warrent accomadating it to them.

As far as other kingdoms yes as far as we are told there are several other kingdoms. What is an interesting thing to think about is that the entirety of Lordran is build on top of a giant archtree, which is evident if you travel down to Ash lake. So i theorize that the other kingdoms could be built on top of other archtrees.

As far as I understood this part of the lore, the undead are send to the undead asylum and locked up there. The asylum does not lie in Lordran but somewhere else. The player is brought to lordran by the big raven/crow.

While the presence of undead like Petrus, Rhea, and Paladin Leeroy might seem to hint otherwise, the neighboring Kingdom of Thorolund is in fact full of humans. It is because these few humans from thorolund became undead that they were sent in pilgrimage to Lordran to help cure/wipe out the whole undead plague (not being undead would kind of make you stick out the instant you were killed by Lordran's insane denizens)
