Obviously they don't have the raw damage that other weapons do, because if it did the game would be quite easy for dagger based characters (minus the range problem).
Many bosses aren't parryable either, so just using a dagger would be a challenge, unless it's like the Taurus Demon in which you can get to a high point and do a plunge attack.
If you're going through parrying and riposting I'd recommend the Rapier, as it has the highest crit damage.
I guess you could go for buffs but those are likely more effective with other weapons too.
Oh hey Matty, fancy seeing you around. You`re wrong though. Every physical attack can be parried. It just won`t open up the enemy for a riposte if they aren`t backstabbable. Also rapier has a crit rating of 110, bandits dagger has 131 or 136, can`t remember. The base damage on the Rapier isn`t high enough to put it ahead though.
Oh, it's sad to know that I'll have to carry the balder sword around....
I really don't like the looks of it... (despite being an incredibly good sword)
If you really like the Bandit's Dagger, I suggest you going for an elemental upgrade path, it makes the weapon atleast useable against normal enemies/bosses.
That weapon looks neat, I'll definitely give it a go later.

Intenzion,
Oh my...
Then, I'm sorry...
I guess I got confused because the Bandit's is the highest crit dagger, so for some reason I remembered it as the Highest crit weapon.

Death Dream and Matty_Day93,
This is awkward!
I would never expect that.
I'll definitely try Rapier then.
Hahahah... xD
Thanks a lot for sharing this Dark Silver Tracer dagger.
Priscilla's dagger have massive bleed damage, and have the best base damage for dagger. But it doesn`t have increased crit bonus like the other daggers.
Dark silver tracer have second best base damage for dagger, and on top of that it can apply toxin on enemy with its strong attack, and it has highest crits of all daggers (160). But to obtain this, you have to be quite late into the game, and able to access the additional content.
Also, don`t expect dagger to do a lot of damage per hit. Dagger are weak weapons, but their advantage is in their speed and low stamina cost per swing, so you can sneak in more attacks on enemies.
but at least it's a challenge :)
My recommendation for using it well is buff it and go one-handed for the smaller stamina cost sometimes. You get more hits in quicker and the buff stacks better. If you're leveling up, go for massive FAITH and buff with Sunlight Blade or Darkmoon (crits will be ridiculous, especially with Hornet/Leo ring), one hand and ruin enemies fast. The Four Kings go down easier than you might think if you can choose to one or two-hand for best results to sneak the hits in constantly. So yeah, a integral part of using the Bandit Knife or daggers well in PvE is to know when to one or two-hand to stack faster dps for the least stamina, particularly with buffs. Coupled with a mastery of the parry and backstab system you'll be a dangerous weapon.
On a note about Priscilla's Dagger, the bleed effect can be crazy on enemies susceptible to it. A +5 Priscilla's Dagger on Stray Demon on NG is hilarious, almost broken really. Even on NG+ because of how fast you can lay on hits and the massive bleed effect. My record I think is 45 secs.
Other than Ripostes and Backstabs, your only other main Dagger damage is via bleed, unfortunately.
However, assuming you're dex based, there are a lot of other good DEX weapons. Spears, Scythes, Curved Swords (Scimitar, Falchion), and especially Katanas (You can find a good on as early as Blight Town. Or you can kill that Undead Merchant in the Undead Burg and take his if you're feeling mean).
Those weapons don't rely on Bleed, do good straight-up damage, and will generally make up for your dagger's shortcomings.
