Incorrect Buttons Mapping in Dark Souls PTDE
The controller works just fine. I dunno if there was a recent update that messed up the button mappings when you use the official XBox 360 Wireless controller for PC. I've played this since September and didn't have this type of problem until today. Currently, when I'm in Dark Souls the buttons are like this X = A, A = X, LT and RT are the camera angles. I have no idea wth happened but it's not the controllers fault. Is anyone else having the same problems? I'm trying to find a solution without having to emulate button configurations like xpadder and etc. However, when I press the XBox button to access the live menu the A button works like normal so I know that the problem is not with the controller at all but with the game.

Unfortunately your solution isn't working. That program only messes with the controller and not the actual game's mappings for the controller. The controller works fine. I just hope they fix this soon because it's terrible that such a problem came up when it didn't exist before.

Anyone find a fix for this?

Try deleting any old xinput dlls in your game directory.

Otherwise...I have no idea o__O

I found a fix in the device manger disable hid gamepad and everything should work.

Where is the device manager? and thank you for the helpful suggestions =D

Go to the start menu and search for device manger and it should come up. What you're looking for is most likely under the tab human interface device, right click on the option you want to disable ( in our case hid-compliant game controller) and there should be an option to disable it . After you disable it restart your computer, and, hopefully , the button mapping will return to normal.

Thank you very much your solution worked flawlessly. So for anyone who still has this problem follow his directions. By going to your computer's Start Menu and in the search bar type in Device Manager. Etc.

Just found this thread in google, bumping it because it solved my issue :)

Bumping as well, I've had two friends with this problem.
*edit Forgot to add that this worked. Dark Souls likes to load the FIRST controller driver it sees, which is weird.. Hopefully others find resolution with this as well! PRAISE THE SUN!

I tried this and it didn't work. But I also have like, 10 HID Compliant devices and none of them say game controller. I guess I just have to try every single one...

for reference, I have the Logitech f310 and its own mapping software doesn't even work
