Ps3 Controller
I Installed the Motion in joy thing, and went through, loaded driver, changed it to xbox 360 and tested it out, eveything works...Now the Xinput I also put xbox 360. When I get in game the only button that works is the ps3 home button and nothing else..I also tried unplugging my mouse and key board to see if that works.. Still nothing.. Anybody else help me out or can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

You probably already know this, but i think you have to start up Motion and have it running everytime you start the game.

I'm having the exact same problem. I have the Xinput set to emulate the 360 controller already. I have re-installed MotionJoy, and verified my game cache via Steam's Validation option. Still nothing. All my buttons are recognized by MotionJoy itself and I have tested my PS3 controller with other games that run through Windows Live and have no issues with other games. I was reading some suspicions about it not working with Laptops but that's total speculation at this point. However I do play on a Laptop and my friend plays on a Desktop and he has no problems. Anymore troubleshooting or ideas would be apreciated dealing with this specific issue.

I did not have that issue with my PS3 Controller. One little problem you may have is that the PC doesn't always recognize the PS3 controller as an "XBOX" controller automatically with MotionJoy

What you may need to do for the xinput options is click save everytime before (or after) you load the game if you disconnected your controller at any point. That will autoforce the driver to emulate the PS3 con as a xbox one manually.

TLDR.
1. Plug in PS3 controller
2. in MotionJoy Select xbow controller emulation.
3. Click xbox controller emulation options.
4. Click save
5. Have fun with the game.
6. DO THIS EVERYTIME YOU PLAY THE GAME.

I have tried what you've suggested to no avail. I even went as far as trying to push the enable button and vibration test (which was successful), and even checked the Game Controller Panel to see if it was functioning properly and it is. Its gotta just be something with this one game. MADNESS!!

I had the exact same problem with the 360 controller. Took me 3 hours to work out how to fix it. This is what you need to do.

Go to Start menu/Control Panel/Device Manager

Open the Human Interface Device menu

Right click on any HID-compliant game controller and select Disable.

Re-start Dark Souls and Enjoy!

If you went through half the problems I have had getting this game to run today you would have thrown your computer out the window.

I am pulling my hair out with this issue. I have tried x360ce, and motioninjoy, and neither work. I have had the most luck with motioninjoy, so have stuck with that, but I still cannot get my controller to work correctly. Similar issue to the OP, can press the PS button, and get the GFWL menu at the top, and can navigate this fine using the controller, but I cannot use the controller in the game itself.

I have re-installed the software numerous times, tried unplugging and reinserting in game, which makes no difference. Tried Playstation3 and Xbox 360 emulation, no luck with either. I have even tried the above, but once I have done that, I cannot see or calibrate the controller within windows, and still cannot use the controller in the game.

I have removed all extraneous USB devices and am definitely only using one pad. I am using DSfix, DSMfix and DSCfix. is there any possibility that the config for these can effect controller support?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorted. If you have DSMfix installed, it simply won't work. Once DSMfix is disabled, all works fine.

When I open up steam in Big Picture mode and then go to settings, controller, it shows that the PS3 controller is connected but It wont work when I press any of the buttons. I downloaded MotionJoy but the program wont even recognize that the controller is pluged into the PC. Any Ideas on what to do?
