Let's discuss a good Artorias' build?

Artorias is one of my favorites NPCs, and he's based on my favorite manga character (Guts from Berserk). So I feel like my next play-through will be based on him.

I know that he's set is not the best. And he's sword is also "meh" as its requirements are high and distributed while damage it only shines with high stats (and even higher SL).

Armor:

(for me these are a must, when I was looking for Artorias build many people were using none of the pieces of his armor, I don't see the point in making a cosplay build without using his armor)

Armor of Artorias
Gauntlets of Artorias
Leggings of Artorias

Gear:

Abyss Greatsword
Greatsword of Artorias
Curse Gsword of Artorias
Greatshield of Artorias
Wolf Ring

Since he was one of Gwyn's 4 Knights I believe that he was capable of using miracles... so a Talisman wouldn't be bad either...

Anyone interest on this? It's kinda hard to make a build like that work, mainly because it's hard to make it (requires many SLs) and not very effective...

i think his left arm is kinda disabled. u can see it in the cutscene and i think ive read it in some dark souls wiki. thats obviously another reference to guts. i think artorias is not even using it then swinging his sword. so he is using it one handed.

i know its bad for fighting but it would make your build more accurately. though there is his greatshield, i dont like its looks and it kinda doesnt suit th rest of his armor.

just my opinion. :)

Oh, true that. I believe that if I am going to use shield I have to make a pre-cursed version (wihtout abyss sword or cursed)... I don't know about the shield yet, never tried it :P

Most builds dont use his armor because they were made before the dlc.

You're basically required to use the abyss greatsword (remember it scales with humanity) for NG because you need the soul of sif for the greatshield. You can try using the cleansing greatshield, but it's awful. Put off int and fai until NG+ and just level end/str/dex/vit.

an artorias build is pretty much a huge pain in the ass but the satisfaction of running around looking like a bad ass is totally worth it ive made 2 artorias builds so far coming along on my second one and i love them my build so far looks like:

Sarting from deprived
Vitality:20
Attunement:16
Endurance:30
Strength:34
Dexterity:20
Resistence:12 {just to keep the numbers even bit of a waste of a soul level in my opinion}
Intelligence:50
Faith:20

for role playing purposes i think it would prolly make more sence to put the bulk of your souls into faith i just wanted to try magic out with this character for my primary weapon i used a black knight sword +5 untill i got the great sword of artorias in new game pluss you might also try putting more levels into vitality if that is your prefrence although with the greatsheild of artorias you really dont need it that shield is a beast

ive dumped hundreds of hours into this game and still pretty much feel like a noob haha if any one has any suggestions i would love to hear them

I'am working on an Artorias build, myself. I'am aiming for:

SL 120 Knight (I chose this class because Sir Artorias is a Knight, after all)

Vit: 40 (currently have 22)
Att: 10
End: 40
Str: 40 (currently have 38)
Dex: 20
Res: 11 (currently have 10, but I like to round off the numbers)
Int: 20
Fai: 20

R1: Abyss Greatsword
R2: Greatsword of Artorias (or Dark Hand)
L1: Greatshield of Artorias (currently using the Cleansing Greatshield)
L2: Pyromancy Flame (only for Power Within)

Armor:
Helm of Artorias +5
Armor of Artorias +5
Gauntlets of Artorias +5
Leggings of Artorias +5

Rings:
Havel's Ring (for midroll with the Greatshield)
No Ring (open slot/situation calls for) Ex. Covenant of Artorias for Kings' fight, Rusted Iron Ring for swamp, etc.

Spells:
Power Within (Artorias buffs himself during your fight with him)

Covenant: Darkwraith (Artorias became corrupted)

What do you guys think?

since he was corrupted by the abyss i guess abyss sorceries would also fit. also shows how he turned from a faithful knight to darkness.
