Stuck in Undead Burg for about 3 days now.
Have explored everywhere by the main fire. Up goes to the Taurus Demon, who's killed me about 3^41 times, down goes to the invincible Black Knight.

Really, really, really getting tired of this. Used the gold dust or whatever it is, it's gone. Have repaired all of my gear and gone grinding until I'm about level 12.

Can't beat Taurus Demon because he's, well, cheap as all hell. His strikes dont even have to register anywhere near you for you to get hit, the recovery time is about 40 years, and plunging attacks won't work because by the time you climb up, he's almost always ready to follow you and you miss on your way down.

Black Knight is even worse. Can't even retreat and Estus because of his across-the-level reach. He just runs after you and stabs while you heal. I get so frustrated and pissed off that I can't even beat the undead mobs hanging around after awhile.

Really, the motivation to continue playing is dwindling.

Step 1: kill the archers
Step 2: Go on until you see the boss at the top of the tower
Step 3: Run back, climb up ladder
Step 4: Jumping attack
Step 5: Again climb up or hit boss until he is dead

You can get one falling attack on the Taurus Demon. After that, either roll or use a good shield. For the Black Knight, either backstab or parry.

dfuq, you have enough time for climbing the ladder, and do the plunge-attack.
are running from the foggate to the next one? o.0
go through the gate, climb ladder, nuke 2 adds, climb down, trigger taurus, RUN to the ladder and plunge attack the taurus, 3-4attacks, profit

if theres one thing bosses are, it's anything but cheep, there attacks are more then fair and give plenty of leeway, remember to use I-Frames when fighting him

I am super noob... but I don't think I understand how to do plunging attacks like I should. I either miss, or this last time I quite literally got smacked as I jumped by the demon jumping up, which did crazy damage lol. Then by the time I was recovering from my fall, he landed (not on me) doing another crazy amount of damage before I could run.

You just sprint, jump, then hit attack right? Going full noob here, but I don't care. This game is great, but my god...

You just press the attack button during the fall, that's it

omg plunging attaack = giong slowly over edge and pressing R1 in the air

i suggest not actually jumping, walk off otherwise you'll overshoot him

You should be more patient. The first thing you should do:

1: Go to the cemetery, next to the Fire Link Shrine. There is a Zweihander hidden..don't even try to kill the skeletons..just leave them behind and find the weapon.

2: Upgrade this weapon to +5! The easiest Smith to find is beneath the Fire Link Shrine.

----AFTER KILLING THE TAURUS DEMON------

If you manage to get to Undead Parish (after Taurus Demon) go to Andrei; he is also the Smith who upgrades from +5 -> +6 and from +10 to +11

http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Blacksmith+Andrei

3: If you don't want to push Strength but Dex then I can recommend to do one thing:
-> Undead Burg -> Undead Merchant -> Buy a bow first and some arrows; then you can kill him to get the Uchigatana...however!! IF YOU KILL HIM, he will not be available anymore until you start a new playthrough. So, do what you think..this Uchigatana, is one of the best weapons (Dex) in the game when upgraded. Killing him will give you the Residence Key + Uchigatana.

So..hope I was able to help a bit.

That's what I've been doing, overshooting him. I gave up on it for awhile becuase he would usually be jumping up by the time I got ready, but that's because I ran across the tower to get a running start.

And the Black Knight, don't get me started. I'm a Knight class, so my parry feels ponderously slow, but even still, his attacks are so bleeding fast I can't ever seem to parry them successfully. I can parry most other enemies I've encountered so far, but the BK, just damn.

okay that was such a spoiler and something you shouldn't be giving to new players
zero 2013년 12월 1일 오후 1시 02분
BK's are very good skill checks because they are both strong and fast, but remember, don't parry when hes swining, parry when hes about to make contact

Double post, but thank you very much for the help lowl1fe. I was honestly trying to do sort of a 'pure' playthrough where I don't have to powergame and get ahold of the best weapons/armor to advance.

TBH, it feels like why I'm losing could be solved by very clever footwork and a good understanding of what to use on what enemy, but I know that's the long road.

I'm sure I'll eventually go insane and do at least some of the things you suggest. I'm probably limiting myself too much, so should just expect the difficulty to stay as high as it is.

Edit - Don't understand what was spoilery about the above.
