Bandit builds

Hi guys :) I just started a new playthrough in Dark Souls but I'm new to this class. Does anybody know a good STR build for bandit?

If you want weapon buffs, you'll want to go for sorcery instead of miracles. Even then, don't go above one attunement slot or a pyromancer will become more efficient. If you want miracles, cleric is a better starting class. All other points go into vit, end, and str.

Bandits can do any FTH that has more than 13 STR and 9 DEX (means nearly all FTH builds), quality, or pure STR. Pure STR is exactly what zero said. It's your choice which weight you want to use.

It can work but that weapon requires some pretty high stats.

The return on investment is better with the simple demon's spear for most builds: comparable damage, much lighter, and the longest range in the game.

Spears are annoying, boring weapons to use. Why don't you try a honest STR build? strength, vitality, endurance. Just experiment what STR weapons you enjoy the most, though in PvP slower weapons tend to be much less viable. You could also go 40/40 quality build (that is, 40 STR 40 dexterity) which is great for exerimenting with a great variety of weapons, and is quite effective. This would be my recommendation. By the way, diminishing returns come at 40 STR. Only go above that if you want to 1h the weapons that require more than 40, or to use Havel's Shield, etc. Also past 28 STR you won't be upgrading two hand damage much compared to one hand because you get bonus STR when two handing a weapon, and it would send you above 40.

What about the sword of artorias? Is it worth leveling Int and Fth up to equip it?

Right now I'm using BK halberd, SL 35, and it's been good so far.

I would recommend Man-serpent Greatsword or Demon Great Machete, some of the best str scaling weapons in the game, sword of artorias is just a gimmick, you are better of putting your points in vitality/str/endurance.

Joke build meant to simulate the pre-patch days of Dark Souls. Mask of father, rest giants, chaos zwei, grass crest, havel, FaP, 16 STR, 10 DEX, 12 ATT, enough END to fast roll, and rest into VIT. End SL is usually 99.
