How do I make the Greatshield of Artorias?

So I am trying to make the greatshield of Artorias and I have no idea how. I have a soul of Sif and have upgraded many different shields to +10 but non of them work. What shield do I need to upgrade to make the greatshield?

You need to do it at the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo.

Get a normal shield to +10 (normal means you upgrade it with titanite shards / large titanite shards / titanite chunks / titanite slabs). IT has to be exactly +10.
Go to the >Anor Londo< Giant Blacksmith and select "ascend" (the highest in the menue).
Go to the second option from the right side, you can craft boss weapons here.

Have your shield and Sif's Soul in your inventory as well as the necessary amount of Souls.

You can buy one from the Merchant at the top of Sen's Fortress

No it hasnt. You can have a normal shield like Balders.

I did mine whith a spider shield, which is certainly not a greatshield.

Time to go tell the person who told me that that he's wrong then.

So OP is either using unique shields, or he isn't at the giant smith.
