Accidentally killed a NPC
so after i defeated the bell gargoyles, i climbed the church tower and rang the bell, when i got down, there was a creepy guy with his arms open at the botton of the tower, then i accidentally attacked him and we engaged in combat, then i killed him. what was his function? am i going to miss something?

he can absolve my sins, what does that mean?
If you sin against a covenant but want to go back to that covenant, or if you accidentally strike an NPC but you need them to be friendly, like a blacksmith or vendor, he can make things right (for a price ofc).

That dude is my Favorite NPC (Oswald of Carim) WHy'd you kill him D:
he sells indictments and some spells, makes you leave covenants w/o consequences, but more importantly Absolution of sins.

it was an accident D:
It is only human to commit a sin... Heh heh heh heh...
Well, just hope you don't irritate another NPC or you wouldn't be able to get them back other than that i see no problem, i never used him anyway, you wouldn't need him except for rare cases that you might not even face.
he also teaches the best gesture ever

Since you're only at the beginning of the game, might as well restart with a new character. Better than potentially finding yourself in need of Oswald's services much later on in the game.
Oswald can be quite helpful should you abandon a convenant you are in. If you are only playing "offline" it should be no issue....however IF you get an NPC mad at you, he is the only character that can fix it. I highly advise against killing any more NPCs.....The first time I played the game, I got to the gargoyles and decided to try another character, and it took me well less than half the time to get to the same spot at the same level. You will eventually start over......

no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way dude

He sells 2 fairly strong alliment resist rings and a talisman that lets your faith spells scale off int

as mentioned he obsolves sins but he is also one of the (I belive check the wiki) two vendors that sell curse cures( one of them is cheaper) the curse alingment while only given from a handful of monsters halves your health when you die with it he is a fairly important npc if you screw up thought I imagine you can rough it if you are extra cautious about angering npcs you still "need".

Also the gargoyles are extremly easy if you summon solair and laurtrec(ditto gapping thought he broke my gear the first time I played as I was foolish).

yeah as i said, i only play offline, so no prob i guess
Only if you're sure you won't accidentally attack any NPC you might need, like blacksmiths without whom you can't ascend weapons etc.

u missed out on the best gesture in the game. for shame
he is not super usefull, but since you just started, I'd say reroll your character, juts in case. after doing the part you did once, you should be over with it in no time on second playthrough. If you were further into the game, I'd say keep going, but at this point, meh.

You just accidentally killed the NPC that can absolve you when you accidentally attack an NPC.
Oh, the irony!
