How does the item discovery rate affect the drop rate?
I currently am farming slimes for green titanie shards and I thought: If I have 10 humanities how much will the drop chance raise? Is it affected in general or related to the base drop chance of the items.

10 is max 0 is min, do you really need to know more? :D

The item discovery stat on your character sheet refers to the ratio of your current item find rate to the base one in percentages. 100(aka the default) is 100% drop rate. 410(the absolute maximum achievable in the game) means you find items at 4.1 times the normal rate.
10 humanities with no other item rate equipment raise your item rate to 210.
By the way, Symbol of Avarice and Gold Serpent Ring DO NOT STACK, only use one or the other.

Do not farm slimes in depths, farm leeches in blighttown, they drop 5 green shards instead of 1 from slime, and it seems that droprate from leeches is bigger.

So if by base this titanite drops at 2%, the 210 will make it drop at a 4%?

Yes, pretty much. By the way, why the hell are you farming green titanite if you haven't rang both bells yet? You don't have acess to any either of the blacksmiths(except the magic one) that need it and are worth a damn.
PS. Magic/Enchatnted upgrade paths are not that good.

Vamos is accessible as soon as you reach Firelink.

look at drop rates at wiki; these are all valid for humanity=10 and either gold serpent ring or symbol of avarice (= overall item discovery rate 410)

including 1 green shard

Oh, in that case go right ahead. Although you might be better served by the Moonlight Greatsword you get from chopping a certain white drake's tail.

Yeaaaaaaah.... I find rather hard to cut tails. Do they have a certain hp or hit counter? If the latter, i'll wear an unupgraded sword and hit his tail.

Percentage of the total HP of the boss, I think. Seath's tail is the easiest or second easiest anyways, just hit it near the white tip and not near the base.

Tail weapons are related to poise dmg i think and not HP dmg. so its more of a "hit counter" but bigger weapons with more poisedmg needs lesser hits to cut the tail.
