Darkmoon Blade versus Sunlight Blade. Is it just difference of elemental type?

Looking only at the base damage modifier of MagAdjust x 1.8, Is it just a difference of elemental damage? Faith and Intelligence will have no bearing on the damage except in modifying the MagAdjust?

I would prefer the Sunlight Blade but don't want to turn Anor Londo dark until NG+. Does it just comes down to adding either magic damage or lightning damage to my weapon attacks?

Darkmoon blade does more damage if you level up in the convenant, and it will be better for certain bosses (like the four kings) while Sunlight Blade will be better for others (like Seath, who is resistant to magic).

Anor Londo doesn't go dark if you kill Gwyndolin, only if you destroy the illusion of Gwynevere, so you can kill him without worrying about that.

Forgot to point out that DMB scales not only with the talisman but with rank in the covenant as well.

Huh. So best case scenario if I don't intend to stay with the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant is to just turn-in 10 Souvenir of Reprisal, get the miracle and talisman and betray the covenant for the Sunlight Blade? Does seems kinda odd given that it's Gwyndolin who is maintaining the illusion.

If im not mistaken the betrayal will also reduce your covenant level, thus making your DMB less powerful (ideally you want the covenant to be +3), so the way to go i think is:
-NG kill gwyndolin and get Sunlight Blade.
-NG+ do blade of the darkmoon covenant and dont kill gwyndolin.

Is the MagAdjust x 1.8 only applicable if you're in the covenant at Rank 0 or 1 or 1.8 regardless if you're in the covenant or not?

I can see how Darkmoon Blade is stronger at Rank 2 or 3 but at Rank 0, 1 or not being in the covenant is the damage modifier the same at 1.8 between both miracles?

if you betray the darkmoon blade covenant you cannot use Dark moon blade the buff, so you can only have one or the other unless you kill him get SLB then re join and get DMB on NG+ :)

Good point, one that I completely forgotten about. And if I recall correctly, you can't get duplicates between NG's so only reason to get Rank 1 is for the talisman if I don't intend to stay with them.

Well dratz, I personally prefer Chaos Servant for the long term covenant to join but those weapon buffs are simply too good to not have. But I guess having just the Sunlight Blade is still sufficient for boss encounters. In between that and Power Within and I'm sure it'll be a notable buff overall.
