Input Lag
I have been watching some videos/streams of Dark Souls and notice one main difference - there is a distinct lag between when I press a button and the character reacts to it. I thought it was just how the game played (actions queue up with a slight delay rather than reacting instantly) until I saw the fluidity of other peoples games.

Is this something I can adjust/fix or am I doomed to never beat the taurus deamon on teh basis my character will never dodge when I tell him to?

BTW - I have fairly consisten 60fps so it's not a specs issue.

hi there,

Are you using mouse and keyboard or a controller?

They've just got used to it. Unless you're talking about some extreme delays, it's the same for everyone.

If you have vsync on, then that will add input lag because your image is being displayed slightly later than it should be. Turn vsync off, then make your maximum FPS to around 62 - 64 to limit screen tearing.

Also there is "lag" for the movement button (roll, backstep, run) since it will not do an action until the button is LET GO instead of PUSHED.

Otherwise this game should react quickly to your actions. Dark souls 2 has un-turn-offable vsync and that game feels a bit sluggish compared to this one.

Test Subject - Controller (official XBox360)

LOCLAT & Grim Reaper - It's about 0.5-1 second I thnk, hard to tell when mashing like crazy in a panic of "dont die". It often feels like the character is reacting as though I have VERY low reaction times, or that I should hit dodge/roll before the opponent even swang his sword.

GatsuFox - Thanks, I'll give that a try. I have also heard it may be my conroller drivers? I just use Windows automatic driver install.

Thanks guys

Hey Kill Switch. Already have DSFix as I couldn't ahve got past the opening credits without it!
I've dabbled with graphics settings in case that might help and installed the full Windows 360 controller drivers. Things seem a lot better now (made it as far as about to fight Taurus without dying!) although having found out that no action besides walking can happen without Stamina, my approach has changed.

Call me a noob - I think I may well have just been running out of Stamina and not realising the affect it had.

It seems to be an issue with certain weapons/equipment.

The first time I played the game I did not encounter it at all. Now, on my second playthrough, I am using a club and finding that, every now and then when I go to attack/use Estus flask after lowering my shield nothing happens... so I go to raise my shield again and BOOM the action finally occurs.

It's really strange and happens maybe once every 30 minutes or so.
