Level 31: Can't beat Bell Gargoyle Fight!?
I don't get it! Everywhere I look online recommends you to be level 10-20 for the Bell Gargoyle fight. I can take the first one down to half health pretty quickly if he doesn't just pin me in a corner and knock me off the building.

But when the second one comes out, I can't even get a strike in before one of them smashes me or catches me on fire.

How the hell can I be a Level 31 Warrior and not be able to get passed a level 10-20 fight!? I must REALLY suck...

Indeed. Last time I attempted the fight I was about level 15. I've grinded about half my TOTAL levels in the same area for several hours of in-game time. Also grinded for souls and shards to upgrade my gear with. Most of my gear is maxed or close to it. I don't get why I have so much trouble with this.

If you can get the drake sword (from shooting the bridge dragon's tail) then it should be much easier.

?????

Well then obviously I don't understand the game at all...

Does shooting it with a longbow work? And where do I shoot it from?

that's already obvious from the fact that you actually farmed souls for hours

Advice would be helpful...?

you get under the bridge the dragon is on and shoot it from there.
alternatively, if you have the master key, there are 2 gold pine resins in the undead burg in the building above the black knight.

as far as the gargs are concerned: they are callen RNGoyles for a reason, and can be super easy or kinda tricky depending on your luck. easiest would be to burn down one before the other spawns. if you lack the damage for that, wait till one breathes fire, that immobilized them for a long time then get some hits on the other. Other than that it's really all rolltimings in this fight, unlike, say, quelaag, they don't really do anything all that special.

Restore humanity, and summon Solaire. He's right by the boss's fog gate. If you stay out of the fight, Solaire will solo the gargoyles for you. This strategy will not improve your skills, and the next place you go may have a steep skilljump. Just be wary of getting your ass kicked

I'll probably try to do this legitimately. I just got the Drake Sword as someone suggested and I'm going to try again.

This fight is really freaking rediculous tho. Finally killed the first one, just to have the second one ♥♥♥♥♥ out and keep flying backwards every time I got close and just kept breathing fire on me...

Just be aware that the Drake Sword will quickly outlive its usefulness; it doesn't scale with any stats, which will eventually render it useless. It's a very good crutch for a new player getting used to the game but it's a good idea to think about replacing it eventually. Don't worry; you'll get the hang of it all soon enough. Fail and fail again until you learn - that's what it's all about!

(And don't be afraid to ask for more help!)

It really is an obnoxious fight, and its quite the difficulty spike so early on. Assuming you don't have enough damage to nuke down the first one before the second arrives, then the key to this fight is patience. Simply run around until one of them gives you a clean opening, and go for the poke.

Your previous post tells me that you're medium/heavy rolling, since killing the second gargoyle is extremely easy, you just sprint past his side as soon as you see him stand still to start the flame animation. Unequip most of your armor until you are fast rolling, you want mobility for this fight. But since you're heavy your run speed is extremely low and thats probably why the gargoyle can get away with kiting you around.

Damage mitigation is not very dramatic in this game, generally you want to avoid getting hit rather than tanking hits, and poise is useless in this fight.

Just saying 'I'm at sl 31' says very little about your character. You could have spent levels poorly and as a result not have the end/vit you need.

Seeing this thread warms my heart with nostalgia.

Vitality 15
Endurance 20
Strength 22
Dexterity 15
Resistance 15
(Don't really use any other skills)

Only thing I think might be low is my Resistance.
