Iron flesh is only good for trolling newbies. Rapier +5 is worthless, even with magic weapon. If you have 10 twinkling titanite you could max Velka's rapier and that would be better. Poison mist or toxic mist is nice for this fight. You can't get them so that doesn't matter.
Stay on the snowy part of the arena and look for her footprints. Don't let your bleed build up fully or you will probably die. When you've found her hit once or twice and get away (until she decloaks, then you can tell what she's doing). I'm assuming you probably die in at most 2 hits so stay under 25% equip burden so you can fast roll. Once she decloaks, bombard with magic until dead.
I died to her a few times on my first playthrough, key is watching the footsteps and knocking her out of invisibility as shes invincible during that stage. The first time I managed to knock her out of invisibility I took her down quite easily moments later. I played a melee fighter however, my VIT would have been closer to 25.
Also, and this is just my 2 cents, 32 att is WAAAAAY too much. A faith build never needs more than 16 and an int build can work with 19 easily.
Yeah, stand corrected was confusing her with another boss. That explains why she was so easy to beat once I knocked her out of that stage, I'd already beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of her when she was invisible.
Regarding attunement, I found 7 spell slots can sometimes be useful for low vitality. For example, after dying many times, I used Magic Shield and Flash Sweat to rush the firebreathers in the Annex, then used Great Soul Arrow twice to kill it. Used Great Heavy Soul Arrow to aggro the Harpies, switched to shield and Combustion in melee range. So that's 5 Spells in two minutes...
It's quite an unconventional build, I guess, but I've sort of grown used to it. I die a lot though. But I've gotten really good at parrying as well...you know, parry, riposte, low endurance so dodge out...
Anyways, I don't think I'm quite ready to rely on tanking hits and upping my vitality, as I'm so used to being a glass cannon. I'll resort to that if I really can't get further. But it sounds like you guys are saying I just need to spam a weapon or pyro near her footsteps?
Do you think spraying Fire Surge is a good idea...?
Man on my first play i had the same issues, was playing as full int build, go to de ledge and when she gets close trown a fireball, that will make her appear, them cast all you got, most reliable spell in your case is the fireball, but i am not sure if i used fire orb so can't be sure it will work. anyway good luck!
I kept trying to tank hits, blocking and retaliating, but that always failed.
So my build isn't for tanking. So I just ran around at high speeds near her footprints, waited for the sound of her attacks which missed me, turned 180 degrees, threw a fireball in that general direction, and repeated till she appeared.
Thanks again especially to BaalBR!
