DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die Edition

The griefing is ruining my experience.
This has been settled. No need to keep hatin' ;)

Original post below.

I have no interest in pvp at all, for starters. I went human for the first time today and within one minute some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ invaded me. Then it happened again at the same spot as I had finally gained another humanity and went human for the second time. Why do I need to go human? Because I want to be able to summon an npc to help me with the bell gargoyles (I am not particularly good at this game and could use the extra hand). I made it pretty clear that I had no interest in fighting and got killed both times as I climbed the ladder to the gargoyles. Something tells me that the game won't get any easier and that I'll get the opportunity to summon more npcs later on. I suppose I could try and play with steam offline but then I'll lose out on many of the other experiences the game offers with ghosts etc. Can I get some sort of item that banishes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s?

poor soul
*identifies Scruffy as part of the problem*
Dude, you should have skilled spelling more than Dark Souls :p SCNR
Apart from that, seriously, its not hilarious, its a shame...
ok, everyone saying that invasions aren't griefing and and that op is just a ♥♥♥♥♥, your half right, invasions aren't griefing, but i doubt the op is a ♥♥♥♥♥, when he says griefing by invasions i'd assume he means the people who have super geared up low level characters and just one shot genuine new characters
The point of invasions no matter the SL is to halt a players progress. One could be SL18 or SL80, but the GOAL is to steal the humanity from the invadee by killing them. This is a game dynamic. If you choose to become human, you understand that you are risking an invasion. The game is indifferent to if you are trying to summon another player or an NPC.

Do it offline. Problem solved. You can summon NPC's whilst offline.
He wants all the features minus the getting invaded. Believes an integral part of the game that makes this Dark Souls is griefing.
No, he said specifically that he wanted to summon NPCs in his first post. I don't get all the "git gut" posts, after all, if he wants to play without the invasions, it's his game and his right, he just won't summon white/golden phantoms.

Sounds like what I said is what he said.

His right is to be invaded playing online. This is a key mechanic of Dark Souls. I might not like dying in CS, MvC, or mmo's but I don't call my online opponents griefers and try to turn off their weapons or ability to play online and get all the benefits.

Also it's not his game. We're renting these games from steam/valve and agreeing to use the games as they were intended according to the eula of steam. Not that they really care since they let VAC do the work for them.

Sorry bro, but this is nonsense...
You can totally play as a coward and enjoy the hell out of it. Get some intel, find Dusk, buy spells, enjoy. Skip gargoyles if you want and go to darkroot area. Easier boss and a ember for killing it. To be honest you should just solo gargoyles and practice. Capra demon will break you otherwise lol.
"I WANT ALL THE BENEFITS BUT NONE OF THE DOWNSIDES"-Basically the guy who started this threat. Wants to summon help but not risking getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Griefers actually deliver you the proper DS experience. The whole point of this game is humiliating other players. Invading a player and killing him is a sense of good tone here. You can't just walk in and request the community to change our happy valhallish attitude just because you don't want to learn how to pvp. If you don't ok with it then you have picked a wrong game to play.
I'm an invader and you sir are an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Don't push your personal beliefs as a common thing.

Patches... I thought I fed your traitorous corpse to a skeleton dog in the Tomb of Giants... but, seriously, the whole point of the game is to humiliate other players? What is wrong with you people? And stop telling new players that this is the wrong game if they don't want to PvP - its optional. Also I note how people just pile on the flaming without actually having read the thread or getting what the OP really wanted. Also I think by replying I keep this thread alive - its a bit addictive I must say :p
We sort of settled this around the second page where I apologized for being so salty and got some good advice :) But keep at it if you wish.
ok, my (not so) expert advice here, play in like windowed mode and when someone invades quickly turn off your internet, that way the invader can't kill you, then just stay put and turn your internet back on.
Guys, we just switched to a new thread --- bring the beers :p
