Durante fix question
Hey everyone,

I would like to purchase Dark Souls on PC and I heard the durante fix is probably a must have.

Problem is, I'm extremely paranoid regarding stuff I download off the internet, is the fix 100% malware free(keyloggers, trojans, etc)? is there any risk involved?

Also, does it unlock the 30 fps cap? and what about the mouse+kb controls?

Thanks

It's completely malware free, you can use it to unlock the 30fps cap. I think you need an additional fix to work together with dsfix to get m+kb controls that don't suck.

... and that fix for mouse and keyboard either doesn't work anymore or it's bugged. maybe there's a solution, though. I don't remember.

btw, install also "Dark Souls PVP Watchdog". its thread is stickied, so it's surely safe (I have been using it for months). read carefully what it does on the bitbucket page.

Thanks for your comments.

Can some more people that used the fix reassure me its legit(not malicious)?

Its legit, I've been using it since the port was released, and nothing has happened to me.

DSFix on its own doesn't fix your KB+M controls, you'll need DSMFix for that. Its not broken or bugged, but it does require some config file tweaking that may or may not be a little confusing. For some reason my fixes didn't work until I removed them and replaced them, identical configs and all.

It's legit, most people who play Dark Souls use it, I'm guessing tens of thousands of downloads so far.

You will also need DSMFix to fix the mouse and keyboard though it's way better with a controller, tbh.

Used it installed since the beginning, no problems at all. Durante would never harm us! :)
You can use this site for downloading mods:
http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/?
Safe, legal, easy installation, tons of stuff for several games.
Actual version of DSMfix isn't there though, use the link in the sticky thread instead. Maybe the guy who modified it will upload it to the nexus someday.

Okay, I do have a controller lying around somewhere, I guess I could plug it in.

By the way, is this his official site?

Do I also need to re-apply the fix after each Dark Souls update?

Yes that is it. Make sure to check the directions since it suggests a couple things to turn off once in-game.

Don't think there will be any updates for this game anytime soon so wouldn't worry about that.
