I can not reinforce my Shotel to +6
After I reinforce my Shotel to +5, it don't appears in the list to reinforce again. I have the itens required but it don't appears in the list.

You have to go on "Modify Weapon" on a blacksmith.

This and you need the large ember.

I have the large embers. When I get home, i will test this.

More specifically, you have to go to Andre in Undead Parish, and go to Modify Weapon in his menu to get it to +5, then you can get it up to +9 the normal way, and then to go to +10, you will once again need to have Andre do it. (Same with +15)

You will need the corresponding embers to ascend your weapons. If you have already given them to him then you should be good to go. Large ember for +5 to +10, and Very Large ember to get to +15 IIRC.

Ty Val Helsing, I thought that was something about the game.

That is one annoying thing that they fixed in Dark Souls II. I can't think of a new player who wasn't confused about weapon ascension (it should really read "ascend weapon" rather than "modify weapon", since that is how Andre refers to it).

I, too am a bit confused as to why you need to go directly to said blacksmith to ascend weapons, this applies also even if you previously handed him the correct ember(s) beforehand and couldn't ascend your weapon(s) then.

I preferred Dark Souls' weapon ascension much more than DS2's. Forcing the player to do things like this, being a hassle, is the core of the Souls' games. You're supposed to earn the ability to ascend your weapon higher, not find one ember and be able to get everything you want from then on. DS2 was a joke in that department.

"Fixed"? Not quite. DS2 was simplified to appeal to a larger more casual market. That's never good.

It's never not good either, but that's not the point. The upgrading system may have been simplified but now you have no source of buying Twinkling Titanite. If you can't find enough materials on a normal playthrough for boss soul weapons and Unique weapons, you'll have to farm Dragon Aerie's crystal lizards and wyverns. In order to do that you need bonfire ascetics and the best place to get them is by being in Pilgrims of Dark.

If anything, Dark Souls 2 made it even more of a hassle to get items ascended, even if the system is more universal (simplified). No casual gamer that I know of wants to grind a ridiculous amount to get the most out of their weapon which they might get bored of pretty quickly.

Well that's just it isn't it. They took a system that worked, both logically and mechanically, and they broke it trying to make it more casual.
