Quelaag's Fury Weapon worth it?
I defeated Quelaag and obtained her soul. But I don't know if it's worth waiting to smith it because 1. I don't know how to get it smithed 2. Stats naturally
The most powerful weapon I've had all game and virtually the only one I've used thus far is the Drake Sword. Thanks for the info in advance.

Do it, Drake sword doesn't scale, Quelaag's Furysword does with humanity

The Drake Sword will begin to fail you soon mate. Reaching Anor Londo you just have to change it. The Sword you made with Quelaag's Soul i have never tried it, all I know is that it scales with Humanitys, wich is I have to say not really good for a new player.

I would save the Quuelaag soul. It can make two decent weapons. The Furysword or the Chaos blade.

How useful these weapons are really depends on your build though. If you don't have the DEX stats to use either than they are not so useful.

To make them you need either a katana or curved sword at standard path +10. Katana for Chaos blade, curved sword for Furysword.

It scales with DEX as well. While having 10 humanity is annoying (especially for bosses as you'll die multiple times and focusing on getting your stuff back instead of killing the boss will most likely get you killed), it is better than the Drake sword. Whatever you try to craft with Quelaag's soul, it'll scale with humanity, and unless you plan on converting the soul into souls, there's no reason not to make the Furysword or the Chaos Blade at the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo.

The furysword is awesome for dex builds and if you always keep 10 soft humanity on you. You can easily go through rest of the game with it, except for Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith, where enemies are resistant to fire, you will need another weapon for those two areas.

You can make the furysword at the Anor Londo blacksmith, you need Quelaag's soul and a +10 curved sword (scimitar, falchion). You need demon titanite to upgrade it, so you'll need to kill the titanite demons in Sen's Fortress and elsewhere.

Well....the problem is I'm at Sen's Fortress now. And again my most powerful weapon is my Drake Sword. So I have no idea how I'd get a more powerful weapon than that. I don't like slow weapons so I don't bother upgrading those. What's the difference between the Chaos Blade and the Fury Sword? 1h vs 2h I take it?
Fnarr Mar 11, 2015 @ 3:55pm
You can find a lightning spear in Sen's in a chest.

Chaos Blade does more damage, requires more strength to use, and depletes your health by 20 HP with every hit that connects. It also has really slow strong attacks. It is a great katana, but not the best for PvE.

But literally every weapon will be more powerful than the drake sword if you upgrade it. Just find one you like and get the materials to upgrade it.

If you want to use a dex-build, you should try the estoc or the uchigatana

I don't even think you can make those boss weapons until you reach the Giant Blacksmith (somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

Everyone else is right, though. The drake sword is only good for the first part of the game. Now you're at Sen's and now The Real Dark Souls Begins™.

Post some of your stats, STR/DEX/END/FAI/INT, and I'll try to recommend a weapon that will be a good choice for upgrading.

I've been trying to become a spellsword but with the soul requirements becoming big I'm rethinking that. I just checked to see which is most powerful that's 1h and it's Astora's Straight Sword. It's at +2 and I'm assuming that the element adds to the damage as well. The problem with that....is I need more Twinkling Titanite. Apart from the bug I found in the forest I haven't gotten any more. So I guess the most powerful under that is my Falchion. All the rest are too slow for my liking.

I'd also like to know how ascension works. I'm assuming I go to a certain blacksmith? I've found two and neither seem to be able to do it when I choose the option. And yes Bridled this is my first full playthrough. I owned this game since GFWL was up and had just gotten to Anor Lando before I gave up for a while. Now I'm back really ready to try and beat it.
It depends on what ember the black smith has however once ascended I belive you have to use the giant blacksmith in anor londo.

Considering all things: Nope.

The Furysword is like the drakesword 2.0 It's good for Anor Londo and decent a bit later but absolute trash for Demon Ruins/Izalith, NG+ and PvP if you plan on doing some. Falchion/Scimitar or Shotel are all better once you have high dex and a good buff. High physical damage is what counts the most and the furysword doesn't have any.

It would be alright vs the big anor londo boss fight but you have to upgrade it with demon titanite and it's expensive and time consuming to get enough of those. You can get 10 chunks before the boss but 4 of them are in a hell hole in sens fortress. Then there's the humanity. If it's your first playthrough you're probably going to die a lot and can't afford to use up all that precious humanity only to possibly lose it all.

Astoras is like the drake sword, only useful early in the game and should be abandoned quickly for something you can upgrade. A divine claymore +5 would be a better investment than wasting twinkling titanite.

With your stats, I would try to focus on either sorceries or miracles but not both. Both would require too many souls to get anywhere and you'll just feel like your character is worthless. I would recommend a greatsword like the claymore or a halberd since you seem to have leveled both dex and str quite a bit. If you find the claymore too slow use the balder swag sword or stick to falchion but your dex is kinda low for that.

I'd recommend planning your spellsword for NG+. I feel like that's a good build idea for a high level character. Your first play through should focus on getting good with melee stats OR focus on being a caster.

You need a few more STR points to weild the Zweihander. It's really easy to find, too: It's in the graveyard at Firelink ShrineYou should level STR up to 40 if you're going strength build. If you want to play with good dex weapons, you might want to reroll a new character, 21 STR is too high for a dex build. You can put Lightning or Fire on that bad boy and it will wreck everything. It's obviously a community favorite.

I personally had a lot of fun with the Large Club and the Great Club. These are also strength weapons. These ones get good scaling off of your strength score, so you might want to leave these uninfused and use buffs on them. In NG+, once you have a high enough INT, you can cast magic weapon or crystal magic weapon on these.

All the Black Knight weapons are pretty awesome, so if you see one of those drop, consider making it your main.

You also mentioned a lack of Twinkling Titanite - all I'll say about that is Ash Lake.

Since you asked about infusion:
The smith near Sen's will upgrade your unifused weapons up to +15, provided you've given him the necessary ember. Choose Modify Weapon from the list to ascend weapons. This smith can also upgrade weapons with Divine and Occult - be warned though, adding a different type of damage reduces the weapons base scaling, so with weapons that have A, B, or S scaling you should probably not give them elemental upgrades. He also upgrades to Raw - avoid this, it sucks in late game.

There is a smith below Firelink that you can access from the beginning of the game who does magic and enchanted upgrades - dont bother with this stuff, at least not with your current build.

The Giant Blacksmith does weapon upgrades like Lightning and Crystal (can't be repaired).
The smith in the catacombs does Fire and Chaos upgrades.

TL;DR - Stop leveling everything except STR and maybe VIT. Get STR to 40. Go get a Zweihander and upgrade it to +10 at Andre, then make it Fire or Lightning. STOP LEVELING RESISTANCE.
