Can't Clean-Install
I uninstalled the game, installed it back, and, oh my, I can continue my old char! Well that's great, but also kinda sucks, cuz by unistalling I wanted to wipe out the whole game.

I do want a completely clean installation, because my current one is f'ed up to the point where a person with schizophrenia would have multpile seizures.

Does DS leave any other traces in the system besides the game folder? I did have dsfix, but I deleted that folder after uninstalling DS.

You know you can delete characters in-game

There are also some files:

C:\Users\YOUR WINDOWS NAME\Documents\NBGI
C:\Users\YOUR WINDOWS NAME\AppData\Local\NBGI\DarkSouls

i've never tried using cloud for dark souls, but the cloudd file should be located in steam-->usersata--> (folder named with some numbers)--->211420 ...? so, if that's right, you should disable cloud and delete what's there, if there's still something; assuming the savefile from the cloud is stored there, which i'm not 100% sure..

Yup, got rid of those too. My main problem is the screen flickers like crazy (goes black ~every half a second), it's even tough to look at, let alone play on.

if you were using dsfix, you ahve to remove not only the dsfix folder, but dinput8.dll too, to make it stop work; it could have remained in DATa, even by reinstalling the game

Don't see one in data, I deleted ds folder after uninstalling, so it should've got rid of dsfix stuff. There is some dinput8.dll file in System32 folder, but I'm not certain if it's safe to delete that one. Is it a specific file to dsfix or do other programs also have it?

oh you ahd deleted the entire ds folder, then you're fine, i had understood that you had removed the "dsfix" folder only, no need to remove other stuff

tried going to appdata-->local-->nbgi-->darksouls, open darksouls.ini and see if there's something related to your flickering issue?

Sounds like a good idea. Just opened it. I'll paste it on here:

[DisplaySetting] WindowMode = 1 [DisplaySettingWindow] Left = 0 Top = 0 Width = 1920 Height = 1080 [DisplaySettingFullScreen] Width = 1280 Height = 720 ColorDepth = 32 Format = 7 RefreshRate = 60 [DisplaySettingFilter] Blur = 0 Antialiasing = 0 ForceDisableAA = 0 [KeyConfigMove] Forward = 87 Back = 83 Right = 68 Left = 65 WalkForward = 262231 WalkBack = 262227 WalkRight = 262212 WalkLeft = 262209 [KeyConfigCamera] Up = 73 Down = 75 Right = 76 Left = 74 Lockon = 79 [KeyConfigEquip] ChangeRightWep = 86 ChangeLeftWep = 67 ChangeGoods = 70 ChangeMagic = 82 [KeyConfigAction] RightAction = 72 RightSubAction = 85 LeftAction = 1048576 LeftSubAction = 9 UseGoods = 69 BackStep = 32 Action = 81 ChangeArmStyle = 65536 [KeyConfigMenuDisp] MenuDisp = 35 Gesture = 71 Live = 36 [KeyConfigMenuCtrl] Up = 38 Down = 40 Left = 37 Right = 39 Enter = 13 Cancel = 8 Func1 = 45 Func2 = 46 NextMenu = 33 PrevMenu = 34

I tried changing ForceDisableAA value to 1, but it didn't seem to help.
