DINPUT8.dll File Not Letting Me Launch Dark Souls

I am using the most recent version of DSfix (2.4), and although the game launches just fine with the DSfix file, it does not Launch when I add the DINPUT8.dll file to my Data folder. I am using the Steam Works version of Dark Souls [-dsptde-2.0-]. As for the settings I have for DSfix, the only things I changed were these two things shown below.

# Enable and set the strength of the SSAO effect (all 3 settings have the same performance impact!)
# 0 = off
# 1 = low
# 2 = medium
# 3 = high
ssaoStrength 3

# Set SSAO scale
# 1 = high quality (default)
# 2 = lower quality, lower impact on performance
# 3 = lowest quality, lowest impact on performance

# enables texture override
# textures in "dsfix\tex_override\[hash].png" will replace the corresponding originals

enables TextureOverride 1

All the other settings have not been touched, and are set to the defaults. I heard turning off Anti-Aliasing in the In-Game PC Settings helps, so I did that as well. I also heard unplugging your controller helps before Launching the game helps as well. Nothing seems to be working though. I have already tried Reinstalling the game twice, also reinstalled DSfix. I am at a loss at what else I can do to solve this issue. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Well it goes both ways, some people need to disable it, some need to enable it. It was more to do with the unlocking the fps with dsfix, but maybe it's worth a shot for you.

Well, HD textures look good in my opinion, but didn't fit with the games look. That's all subjective though so hopefully you can find out for yourself if you like em' or not :)

Make sure to do a restart as well after doing the DEP stuff.

i had the same thing 2 days ago well i did the dsfix .ini options and i rewright the DINPUT8.dll to dinput8.dll stuppid i know but when i change it it worked and i play better than last year with dsmfix too and i get better fps lol u dont have to loose anything stupid idea you are right but try it m8...

I just tried renaming DINPUT8.dll to dinput8.dll and I can confirm that it still works. It's worth a try I guess.

Try starting the game without DSFix, set it to windowed mode, disable AA and blur, then apply DSFix again.

do you have the 32 bit library or 64 bit? it will not work if the wrong one is called or if a modified dll somehow managed to replace standard one in your windows system folders.

do you even have a dinput device plugged in?

all these other so called fixes are not even related to dinput, so ofc they will not work. dinput is a component of directx. if a directx function has become broken or fails then the logical place to start is with directx.

you have to reinstall directx or use the redist appropriate for your OS located in your game's subfolder.

My directX fails to install every time I try to install it. Also I am using Windows 7 64 Bit. They say in order to install Directx you just update windows which I did. I don't know how to reinstall directx in any other manner. I checked online, but they just said update windows.

I believe you need DirectX 9 for Dark Souls. If this is where you originally downloaded it from and it fails to install, you probably already have it installed.

Hey, I found this in a different thread about the same type of issue, I would really suggest that you try this:

This worked for me i'm using windows 7. The dll file is located in SYSTEM32 and SYSWOW64 If you are crashing because of vsfilter.dll, then try renaming this file (locate it through search). If that doesn't work, then make sure to name it back to the original file!

he goes on to say:

Just rename it as vsfilter.bak or something similar so you can find it later if needed. If you have problems with other software that may be using that .dll you'll want to be able to give it it's original name again. I think it's used for subtitles in some video software.

check if dinput8.dll, in its properties, is blocked by windows for "security" reasons, or by antimalware/virus softwares in their settings

OP can you try using earlier versions of DSfix, maybe it's something with your rig and 2.4

You would obviously just drag and drop them into the Data folder and overwrite the DSfix 2.4 files in there. Do not change any settings in dsfix.ini before launching the game please. (these only work with dsptde 2.0 steam beta, so make sure that is still enabled)

*EDIT* DSfix 2.2 was for GFWL, I removed it from the list but if you downloaded it, just know that it won't work with the steam beta.

If you would try one more thing for me I am very curious to see, go back in and disable the dpstde 2.0 steam beta, (right-click Dark Souls in Library then click options, under betas tab, select empty space in drop down menu and then click close) and then install:

Yeah it's getting pretty ridiculous not gonna lie lol. I don't understand how other people have not had this same problem I am having. I will look at the other threads posted about this problem, and they all just say they eventually found a solution that works for them or just never resolved it. I don't get what I am doing differently from anyone else. I feel like I literally tried every possible thing there is to try to get this damn game to play with DSfix. I even tried what that other guy on here suggested with making a new windows user account, and try launching it on the new account. Any way going to try putting it in GFWL Mode with DSfix ver. 2.2, and if that doesn't work I am probably just going to give up at this point, because this is starting to frustrate the crap outta me.

Ya I hear ya, and I can imagine the frustration lol. However, if that does NOT work for some reason, then I'm thinking this is definitely some type of program conflict, or something along those lines. If it DOES work, then I am going to be completely baffled. :/
