Since you are actually making that question ............uhm ...... lightning?
For PVE you need just 3 types of "elemental weapons": Lightning, Fire, and Divine.

Lightning over fire is generally the way to go in PvE. Aside from exceptions like skeletons and Nito, enemies generally have more fire resistance than lightning resistance.

Don't imbue it with any element, Claymore has low base damage so it's best off with Normal +15 and a Quality build (27 str 40 dex).

You can also buy gold resin from the mushroom lady in the DLC, which has 70 more damage than charcoal. (150 rather than 80, if I remember right)

As for the question, if you have to pick an element instead of just going Normal (best) path, go Chaos. It's just like Fire but better. Seriously, does anyone use Fire +10 ever?

It highly depends on your build. If you're going for Str/Dex then regular +15 is best, if you're going for Faith with low Str/Dex then Dvine/Occult, going for Int with low Str/Dex then Magic/Enchanted, and if you're just going pure end/vit then Chaos or Lightning. Though Chaos/Light are also good for Faith and Int builds with low str/dex, ofc. (They're good in general but if you have the stats for it +15 will outscale it, especially if buffed).
