Meanest Scariest Build Ever
I recently finished a PvP glass cannon build and started thinking, "what if I made a build that is capable of dealing out just ludicrous amounts of damage, all the while, laughing as they struggle to do damage to my armor and Iron Flesh spell". I have my stats planned out and I believe they will be suitable for most situations.

However...

If I was going for just massive poise and very solid defense I wouldn't need help. I not only want be a tank, but have a very menacing appearance as well. I don't normally ask for help with character builds for any game, but I don't quite know how to find this balance. I need to know what armor will provide adequate poise and defensive strength, but look incredibly terrifying and intimidating at the same time. Preferably something large or covered with evil looking blades if such armor exists within the game. Something that when a player turns the corner and sees my red phantom Darth Vader walking down the corridor, their first reaction is to go back around the corner whispering "nope nope nope" in their head before collecting themselves to fight. Only to have their attacks plink off my armor as if throwing pebbles at a boulder. I don't want help with the entire equipment layout. Just the things that will be seen (helmet, chest armor, maybe even auras.)

As you may have guessed, this is more so a troll build to scare the ever loving crap out of first time players (yes, I'm that person.) I will collect more information in the meantime to see what I can come up with.

Armor of thorns/Bloathhead/Catarina rest for size.
Or just socplay PyramidHead

Hmm... I respect the ever so nightmarish look of Symbol of Avarice. If not for the life drain buff, it would be perfect.

As for the idea of the Pathetic to Pro swap. It does seem nice. I can see it now:

a red phantom invades, you see he has nothing and he is in fact running away, you turn around the corner and see the UnGod of all that is pain. You Nope your way back to the bonfire to prevent losing your stuff too easily, but as you start to turn around you realize you just made worst mistake you could have, which was in fact turning around. As he hornet ring backstabs you with his Black Knight's Greatsword or Demon Great Machete.

But as for me. Using some of the ones SuperSam recommended; I was thinking Bloated Head, Armor of Thorns, Havel's for the rest including greatshield. My weapon has to be big and duel-wield capable. Not too big, I don't want to restrict my attack speed too much. As for rings I was thinking Blue and Red Tearstones. With that, this question has successfully been answered.

I don't think it's possible to intimidate anyone in PvP, you'd have to do an invasion build in a low level area.

Perhaps location of the invasion is more frightening than the actual build. I tend to invade more in the Tomb of the Giants with my glass cannon. I've learned where everything is so I don't use a light source. It gives me a nice advantage when going for backstabs and plunge attack.

But I still want a slow walk tank build. Some friends of mine keep getting kills with one. But they have a lot of experience. They might just be trolling.

You need to use weapons with charging attacks, so you have some form of movement. Popular weapons for this are the great scythe (I'm not a fan of this one, but hey), butcher knife and greataxe. Others are available, as long as they have some sort of running attack.

Other than that, make sure you have an insane amount of defense (99 humanity helps too), and have some good elemental resistance on your shield (just look on the wiki for that), as you'll have trouble with spellcasters.

side note: iron flesh gives you infinite poise for its duration
