Better Club
I'm looking for a weapon with the same move-set as the reinforced club, only better. Does anybody know where I can find such a thing? I've found a ton of weapons but even other hammers don't seem to have the same attacks and I really like the leap attack I get from the reinforced club.

Or is the reinforced club really as OP a weapon as it seems to be because up to now it's stomped on everything in a couple of hits. The only reason I'm looking for something new is that I don't currently have the resources to upgrade it any further and the enemies are starting to become damage sponges.

what part of the game are you at? I'm not too sure about weapons with movesets akin to the club, but I might be able to direct you towards upgrade materials/upgrade items.

I'm currently at the bottom of Blighttown, walking around in some kind of poisonous swamp. I've cleared everywhere up above that I was able to find or get to so I had to go down instead.

In one end of the swamp, there should be a giant tree surrounded by giant leeches. If you were to run up one of the roots, and go through two fake walls inside of the tree, you'll arrive at a bonfire and a "secret area".

Use that bonfire as a checkpoint to farm the leeches for materials (large shards and green shards).

If you want standard club moveset then I think you're limited to club, reinforced club, mace and pickaxe.

Otherwise its onto the great clubs with different moveset. You can get the large club from the Ogre enemies in Blightown and near Blightown

Oh wow, I missed that. Thanks for the tip. I know the tree you mean but didn't even think about secrets.

Yeah, I got one of those. It's good but very slow. That's why I like the reinforced club; it's fast, does a lot of damage and the leap attack is amazing.

Aside from the bonfire, there are a lot of useful things down that tree. It's not an incredibly hard area, so you should consider having a gander.

Don't forget the morning star.

Morning star is a little ineffective because it is a bit too slow to effectively kick in the bleed damage very often, but it is by no means a bad weapon. If you just like the poise damage and simple moveset from the reinforced club, try an axe or greataxe. they dont do as much poise, but they have the same style of moveset in many cases except the strong attack is just a hard swing instead of a leap. Man Serpent Greatsword is also a good alternative, but you have to farm one of those from the lizard people in Sens fortress.

as far as i know the only clubs with that jumping attack are the reinforced club and the club, but if you upgrade the renforced club it will be just fine, there are very few "bad" weapons in the game.

If you go there be very careful. THose stupid damn things in the great hollow will curse you and piss you off.

you dont need to go into the main part of the hollow you just need the starting bonfire to farm the leaches.

For best hammers, you already got one of the best. Pickaxe is weaker but does thrust so it pairs well with leo ring. Mace is only slightly stronger. You sacrifice bleed for a little more power. Not worth it imo. Just stick with what you have.
Gamemako Apr 16, 2014 @ 2:50pm
As Shifty Mario pointed out, it's classified as a hammer weapon. There are 9 hammers. 3 hammers can only be acquired by murdering your blacksmiths, which is a bad idea unless you're at the end of a playthrough. Of them, only the giant's one is worth using at all, and it's split-damage (though very, very powerful for early game and low-strength builds). The Reinforced Club is generally the best of the club weapons, which are Club, Reinforced Club, Morning Star, and Mace. Of those, only the Mace and Reinforced Club are worth using, and Mace is slow with high strength scaling and is only useful for higher-strength builds. The last two hammers are the Pickaxe and Warpick, which are thrust damage instead of strike damage. You can buy a Warpick faily cheaply from Andre of Astora, the first blacksmith you encounter in the Undead Parish. Try it and see what you think of the slightly different moveset.

Axes mostly share a similar moveset to the hammer weapons, including the ending lag penalty should you miss. For larger weapons, halberds are the ones that deal more damage but penalize you for missing, but they're pretty different from clubs and rather vaired within their own classification.

Aww, I hate curse; I have low enough HP as it is. I shall indeed be very careful. Even if I only need to go into the first bit I'll still want to explore everywhere as I've explored everywhere I've been so far.

Well, looks like I've got some farming to do so I can upgrade my club. I seriously need the extra damage as I was fighting Queelag earlier and was barely chipping any health away. I could probably do the fight as is but it would take forever.
