It isnt exploiting the game, its helping the sumoned players(souls) and you(progression)
Nothing realy wrong with that, from my point of view.
Depends, sometimes it is much harder. I remember when i tried to do quelag with summons - it was much harder than solo, maybe i shouldn't have tried to save my phantom fellows with estus all the time.
Having players "stuck" pretty much kills the game experience, I assume devs just put that there as a "last resort" type of thing to allow progression.
The whole game design isn't exactly designed for coop, unlike MMOs where games is designed to accomodate many people as big as raids. Because of this, much of the challange, is pretty trivial if you summon people in DS.
Otherwise, we'd be seeing more bosses like O&S, gargoyles, or mechanics like MMOs where there are adds/lesser mobs = divide and conquer tactics where one phantom/host aggroes the adds, and the other phantom/host kills the boss, and another phantom/host uses miracles to heal.
Summoning is pretty much = easy mode.
It's not wrong, it's just other players hand holding you or you hand holding others. For many people, this robs the player from the experience they're meant to have. I.E. the frustration of dealing with the boss, or learning tactics to be better and then beating the boss etc.
Or if you're offline in which case whatever.
