Is it safe to put a crack over the steam version?

I'm just really ♥♥♥♥ing tired of GFWL as it breaks my save games frequently. I really want to get rid of it and I don't want to wait till july. So, will anything happen to my account if I crack the game?

there is a way to disable GFWL so it doesnt pop up when you start the game and you dont have to logg into it, but if you do that you cant save the game because it is connected to your GFWL profile

Last night I kept getting an error saying 'Unable to Load Save Data Would You Like To Create a New Save'. Now I'm only just getting to Blight Town but I was in a damn panic, convinced all my slogging and hard work was lost. I ended up closing down the game a few times and re-starting and I did finally get in.

Anyways, I found a program called GameSaves Manager and now every time I exit the game I run that program and it backs up my save-file. In testing the restoration of the save file I figured out that doing this also allows you to load any save file from any time-frame so if you were willing to "cheat", you could, for example, exit the game just before a boss fight; backup your save and then if you die you could restore the save and start immediately at the White Light door.

Not recommending this by any means, just sayin'
