THE most difficult areas in Dark Souls for real
So I finished all the areas in Dark Souls finally today, I just have to kill Gwyn and I've finished NG.

To all of you who are really struggling in the middle part of the game - I was really struggling too, and people kept saying things like "wait till you get to Tomb of the Giants" etc..

Just wanted to voice my opinion that the most difficult part of Dark Souls is easily Blightown, Sen's Fortress and maybe Anar Londo. After that the game becomes easy as you progress as a player and get more soul levels..

New Londo Ruins, Duke's Archives, Tomb of the Giants, Demon Ruins, Lost Izalis really easy in the end.. Finished all those areas in one or two days without any help.

first playthrough I "overexplored" .... I went to the great hollow and ash lake as low lvl with no upgraded weapon.... I struggeled to get to the end only to discover that I had to turn and walk all the way back... talk about hard lesson learned...
Those areas get extremely hard once you get gravelorded.

Yeah. But a lot of the difficulty was because of my ignorance of weapon upgrades and not being able to backtrack, essentially putting myself into a hell. Bonfire warping will completely remove the aspect of getting stranded the way I did when I got to Anor Londo with only a Drakesword lol. But even still, those areas were quite hard regardless.

I had the same experience. After the Anor Londo O&S fight I found the game to be way easier. None of the later areas for me were as hard as navigating Blightown the first time.

Tomb of Giants and Anor Londo knocked me silly, especially O&S

I also found nito to be a bit difficult without a divine weapon, but w/e

ToG is easy, but is also the area I most despise going to. It's just a pain in the arse. The hardest area is probably Sen's Funhouse/Anor Londo because of the 2-way O&S gang bang.

Anor Londo purely due to the MLG Pro Sniper Knights.

Anor Londo: Archers
Crystal Cave: Man eater shells - and having to do it all again if you mess up

Of all areas Dukes is probaly the only one were I fear death, those crystal hollows hit like trucks, they can easily swarm you if you are not carefull and the fact that there are chanellers there ready to buff them can easily get you killed if you make a bad move, also the clams later can sometimes be a problem.

Tomb of the Giants gravelorded is a nightmare. Black phantom skeleton dogs run straight for you, unlike when you're not gravelorded they don't aggro till you are really close. They one shot my main pve character with 2290 health. The Kiln gravelorded is pretty rough as well. Always 1 black phantom knight with the normal knights so you always fight 2 at the same time. The axe, greatsword, halberd black phantoms also 1 shot me. Not too many enemies so it's not too bad.

Areas not gravelorded would for me probably be Duke's, like Zamus said mainly cause of the buff, and for me the archers annoy me.

The narrow sewer tunnels in the Painted world when wearing light armour. D:

Aside from the black knight segment in ToG, with the crapload of dogs and an archer at the far end of the room sniping you (and it's a halberd knight, easily the most annoying type), it's not that hard of an area. The hardest part of the game for me after a dozen or more playthroughs is probably Bed of Chaos or the Four Kings, but in terms of whole areas, New Londo Ruins for that building with like a dozen ghosts in it just before Ingward or the first half of the Duke's Archives because of those damn channelers teleporting around buffing everything.

You can run past the building as if you were heading to were you lower the water, were the stairs are the ghosts will follow you here and will stack up, if you have pyro you can easily dispatch them or slowly killing them via melee, if you head further to the lever the ghost will return to the house allowing you to heal before luring them again if you need to.

Hardest area in dark souls for real. There is really no real factual answer to this question. Its all subjective and opinionated, it differs from a person to another DEPENDING on what playstyle they are going with (ex: people who are more reliant on magic maybe find many areas easy where as pure melee player found it alot harder). Depends on the path you take as well, not all people start in same place, to me the very natural start is undead burg but diff people have diff starting points. Thats the great thing about dark souls, its not linear as some people say.

Playstyle, Path, Your build/stats at a specific area, Skill. Many many factors man so you cant really say whats HARD for real, you can only mention your own opinion from your own perspective. As for me the hardest area was definitely depths, that was a nightmare for me. Frogs really scared the hell out of me, getting cursed... getting lost.. that place was a real real nightmare for me except for the boss. Blighttown was kind of the same case but not really. Again that is my own experience, my own opinion.

Also about the "wait till you reach X" statement, thats normal in dark souls community and goes with diff areas. Again goes back to what i said diff people find diff areas very hard for them so they say wait till you get to X, then in the end you might end up passing that area but a different area that you found very difficult would've been easy for them. I can mention a simple example (true story) for me the four kings were one of the easiest bosses i've fought in the game. I often find people telling me how hard it was for them, but me? they were really really easy and i wasnt overleveled or anything was around 40-70 or something. Thats just one example, and the reason for that turns back to my playstyle and build which made the fight easy for me.
