Starting gifts
Hi, have you an idea what the best starting gift is? In play first game I chose Tiny Being's Ring (big mistake I think...), in my second the master key and in the third the Old Witch's Ring (which isn't that usefull too). So what do you think?

Doesn't really matter what you take as you can get them all in game one way or another. Master key is probably the most useful though.

Master key allows acces to areas far beyond your level, so don't use it on your first playthrough.

Other than that, pick what you fancy. It doesn't leave a large impact.

Pretty much master key is the best. If it's your first playthrough, don't grab it. That stuff is for speed running.

Binoculars - Kind of completely useless and can be gotten in the second area of the game
Black Firebomb - 10 bombs, but can be bought elsewhere.
Divine Blessing - Restorative item, not really that great as it's single use
Master Key - Useful for cutting out annoying parts and getting a bunch of useful stuff. Can be purchased kind of mid/late game and is what people usually go for.
Old Witch Ring - Only useful for lore stuff
Pendant - Not really useful.
Tiny Being ring - Not so great ring
Twin Humanities - Useful item, but you can pick it up anywhere.

Master key is arguably the best bar none.

One interesting thing to know about getting black firebombs is that it allows you to kill the Asylum Demon on your first encounter which ensures you his hammer as a drop.

Chucking a couple of bombs as compared to punching a guy hundreds of times in the pooper is a bit of a step up.

Black Firebombs are also quite useful against the Taurus Demon. They're not a bad choice if you don't want/need the early access to certain areas provided by the Master Key.

The Tiny Being's Ring also does not regenerate health.

you can start game as thief and you will have master key, and as gift take old witch ring since it so old and witchy

I picked the Old Witch Ring because I'd rather keep the Sunlight Maggot and that ring is impossible to get otherwise ... on that note, its not very useful.

Black fireboms aren't that bad if you want the demon greathammer, though I'd only do that if starting as a thief. The master key is pretty much always the best choice.
