Its more about how op are the Greatspears in game.
Claymore is nice. Scales off of Str and Dex so none of the points are wasted. Really good moveset.
Greatsword. Again, for 4 more points in str, If you wanna try a heavier weapon. Strong, good stunlocks, good range. Bit slow with the swings.
Greath Scyth. One of the best in the Halberd class. your stats aren't perfect for it - but as is the curse of Orns Spear, it made you put your points in a bit of an odd place - but this will still be decent.
Any katana.
I'd suggest trying all of those. I mean, it's easy to play the game without trying many different weapons, because you find one you like the moveset of. But you really should try as many as you can, because you never know, you may find one that just clicks and you're like "Why have I wasted so much time not using you?" before you start making out with it and get cuts all over your lips but you don't care cause you're in love. Ya'know? Anywho - just my recommendation! But srsly dat Murakumo.
If you favor PvP, it all really depends on how you want to play and what Soul Level you intend to build around. With 24 STR, 40 DEX, and 40 FTH, it can dish out quite a lot of damage (483). It does have its downsides.
The strong attacks are less favorable in a PvP environment, but each still has some utility. Slower strong attacks, such as the 2-handed lunge, are very easy to avoid and to be punished for using. When using target unlocking, thrusting attacks are quite difficult to aim. Other spears, such as the Partizan and Silver Knight Spear, offer a cleaving attack instead which is far easier to use in PvP.
The high stat requirement and spread also makes low Soul Level builds nearly impossible. Most players cap a PvP build at around Soul Level 100 to 130. Using the above stats, you'll put yourself at around Soul Level 70. The remaining will have to going into END (to support the weight and add Stamina) and a small amount into VIT. You'll have to cap closer to 160 or use light armor without poise. Capping higher lowers the amount of players you can compete against defeating the purpose of PvP.
Lastly, it deals split damage. As you increase your Soul Level, you'll notice that elemental weapons deal significantly less damage against other players compared to standard weapons. This is because split damage is split across the target's resistances. It is easier to reduce, say, 20% of both physical and lightning damage than 40% of physical damage. Ignore this it. I realized how mathematically incorrect it was as soon as I posted this.
If spears are your weapon of choice, you may want to consider some of the B-rank DEX spears. The Partizan, Spear, and Winged Spear all offer a B-rank in DEX at as early as +11 (Winged Spear). All three weigh less than half the weight of the Dragonslayer Spear and all three require 13 or less STR to wield. Without FTH required for the most damage, you can save 35 to 40 points that can better support your survivability in combat. At +15, minimum STR, and 40 DEX, the three weapons cause 350, 350, and 378 respectively. While each are less than the Dragonslayer Spear, each yields more room to build and each only pass through a single defense.
