why is iron flesh suck so bad?
it slows you down, you are not protected as much, you cant roll.

It deflects certain attacks. The Havel's Greatshield buff is better overall.

yeah it deflects but id rather be mobile and be able to roll and risk get hit. i heard that it was better before a patch by from. i cant comment on that, never played it before patch.

Reading the patch notes might help, although I can't remember where you were able to read them. Interestingly enough, homing soul mass and crystal soul mass was nerfed.

Never bothered with it myself but it might be good for those 'dps rush' moments where you put on armor and just whale on the enemy in hopes of killing it as fast as possible (something like the four kings assuming you can get close to them).

It still has its uses. For instance, you can tank up with Havel's armour set and Iron Flesh and finish the 4 Kings off with relative ease, even at lower levels. It's one of the more common strategies for new players who struggle with the boss. If you want to get the Large Divine Ember, it's also nifty for helping you soak up some damage, just in case.

Except that in such a circumstance Power Within would be better.

Wouldn't that depend on one's stats and weapon of choice?

Not really. PW affects all weapon and spell damage iirc. It also has the added bonus of stamina regen.

And what if the person is a 'glass cannon' with dps all but cinched up but no real ability to field damage?

The armor increase from iron flesh is laughable, in the case of the 4 kings I would rather be able to roll (even fat roll) so I don't eat the thrust attack. If I'm not using PW I'm using green blossom.

Meh, guess it is good I never really bothered using it. Probably would have just been disappointed.

The most powerful glass cannon builds include Power Within anyway.
