The Gaping Dragon is totally unfair. (FINISHED)
SO! I have fought the Gaping dragon over 30 times now with only 2 characters. I only beat him once and that was cause i had 3 helpers AND knight Solaire, well if you saw my last discussion you may know that the character that beat him was deleted for lets say "Reasons". well this new character and like the one before, only does a small fleck of damage to the boss. SO! It's almost a neccesity to have atleast 2 people help me kill him.And this is urgent cause i had 20,000 souls but thought it said 2,000 and died. PLEASE! i beg anyone and everyone to help me kill this unfair boss. im level 25 and ive been told thats the average level fer fighting this Gobshite. WTF! i hardly do a fleck of damage. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

I dont want anyone SUPER high level to help cause in my book thats cheating somewhere within the range of lvl 25 to 35 at most pls.
Although I am currantly hollow meaning it might be a while before anyone can actually help me.

you say you don't do any damage with a gargoyle axe+5 ? What stats did you level up ?
The gargoyle axe has a D for strength scaling, and a C for dex scaling - so it gains a little extra damage with your strength and a bit more damage from your dexterity.

Stop summoning Solaire and other players and fight him alone that, with 2 summoned phantoms (if the extra HP amount per phantom is 50%) he would have 225% of his HP, effectively doublnig this bosses hitpoints, making this fight very long and painful !

Watch out for moves that expose him aka : render him unable to fight back !
Then target his tail which is obviously giving you the most trouble, whack it a few times and back off

Good Luck !

Well, no idea if your problem's been solved yet, but as a few people already said:

1) Do not summon NPCs for this fight. Each phantom increases the dragon's HP for, err, 50%? Anyways, a fair deal of HP gets added up to the boss if you summon a phantom, players included.

But a player would know what to actually do in that fight instead of getting killed by the dragon.

2) If you go this boss alone, there's a simple and failproof strategy to it.

Basically, you only have to stay away from him until he hammers his whole body into the ground.
Then, he'll remain still for a few moments before charging straight ahead. Once he stopped charging it is safe for you to start attacking his hindparts.
Just get a bunch of hits in until you're out of stamina and back up.

Keep repeating that process until he's down. And be careful, sometimes he tends to chase you for a longer amount of time or will unleash a "barf"-attack. You better back up from that goo - it depletes durability pretty quickly.

3) In case you want the tail-weapon, be sure to hit him where the ring on his tail starts - the part of the tail that is closer to his body will also count as damage inflicted to his body.

4) If he grabs you start mashing your attack and block button on the controller.
That way you can escape a majority of grab attacks from enemies (such as the fooliage in Darkroot or the globs in the Depths) and bosses.
If you're fast enough you should even be able to negate all damage. I suppose I wasn't ever fast enough though.

5) And a piece of advice, if you're willing: Be more patient with the game. Some bosses have a ton of health, other have little health but will make it hard to hit them in the first place.
Just be patient with the game, give it a few tries, don't just go attack the boss - keep your distance and observe his moves.

Espescially in the 2nd half of the game you'll need that patience.
Just bait his slam attack and start attacking the tail remove some armor so you have your fastest speed and 2 hand your weapon with fast attacks pretty easy, after you cut his tail for the weapon do the same on his head, 2-3 hits each time is enough did this boss first try with that strat.
Stand infront of it outside the stomp distance, wait until it stomps down, take a couple pokes at it's dumb little face, then walk to the side as it does the charging attack, go poke it's backside a bit. Repeat until win. Run if he tries to throw up or fly.

This boss is mostly a trap for people who keep relying on summons, since the NPC summons only beef up his health bar then die immediately getting run over by the dragon.
Gaping Dragon is like one of the easiest bosses. :\
I only ever died to it when i got too greedy, it takes a while but it's really easy to just avoid literally all of his attacks and poke away until he dies.
Hitting his head does extra damage.

ok great. question How do i get to blightown without... i dont know...beating this boss?
He's not in blighttown he's next to the locked door. And you can go to blighttown through new londo if you took the master key as starting gift
You don't even need the key, just go from the parish and through drake valley

You didn't answer the question: did you upgrade your weapon? Also use gold pine resin, it like destroys that boss. I always did that boss alone, except when I did a coop run with a friend. He's pretty easy alone, use gold pine resin on your weapon, I used an axe, and it destroyed him. Just walk away from it, mostly to the side when he attacks. And you can't go to blighttown without master key or beating this boss.

yes its a +5 gargoyal tail.sry if it was unclear

Stand in front and bait the slam. Then either attack the head a few times or go for the tail. The only follow-up it has to slamming is charging forward so it will be prevented from tail swiping temporarily.

Have you tried running past them instead of fighting them?
Have you tried bating their attacks in another direction so you can run past them?
Never give up, this game is so simple that even Twitch can beat it
twitch plays dark souls. I want to see that.
That's called a snuff film and they're illegal, fyi.
