Game speed issue / Game running in "slow motion"
I've tried the game with and without DSfix 2.2. Without DSfix, I get a solid 30 fps. With DSfix, a solid 60 fps. Yet, with either config, my game is only running what appears to be 1/2 or 2/3 of normal game speed. I verified this by watching ladder climb footage of both the PS3 and X360 versions on youtube and comparing it with my own.

So what's the deal? Again, my framerates are fine, but the game speed is wacked. I was really looking forward to playing this game after picking it up on the summer sale, but it's painfully slow and unplayable like this. System specs:

i7-2600K
16gb ram
GTX 670
Win7 64-bit

You've got the power needed to run it well. What's your task manager telling you about system resources while running the game (might need to try windowed mode if you don't have dual monitor)?

Nothing of special note in task manager other than the fact that the game doesn't seem to be taxing the cpu at all:

Anyone else? I've also tried multiple resolutions with no luck. I'm very disappointed at this point. If I had known that the PC port was this bad, I would have just bought the PS3 version instead. :(

I'm having the sam problem, but I'm sure it's mostly due to my laptop. I'm using a Acer lol

Bump.

if you cap fps at 30 (while having fps unlocked), does the problem still occur?

From what I understand of the OP, it's not the framerate but the in game animation that's going slowly. Very unusual problem, to be sure, which is why I thought maybe it has nothing to do with gpu resources. I play on i7 3630 with NVidia GT630M (laptop) and don't have this issue. The OP has a better system than mine, so should be able to run without problems. Hopefully someone has a solution.

Oddly enough, the issue seems to have resolved itself. The game now runs at normal speed with or without DSfix on. The only thing I've been able to find is that my cpu usage, while still relatively low, is now about double of what it was previously:

If I had to guess, there is some bug related to how the game utilizes multicore cpus. As far as what I did that finally resolved the issue? Don't ask me. I've been monkeying with everything from rebooting to changing resolutions to tweaking the DSfix.ini settings. Wish I could offer more help to those that may end up having the same problems I did. ☹

Great! I hope it stays fixed for you. :)

m getting 30 fps, but it still looks SLO-MO using MSI afterburner.

DKS2 is running solid 60fps

possibly a stupid question, but do I need any sort of processer/download I must have inorder to completely run Dark Souls? I see everyone posting stuff about the GTX580, or DSfix.ini. PLEASE HELP!!! just bought the game yesterday and would love to start gaming before I have to go to work lol

For the people still having this same issue, try downloading and using this:

http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/246/?

It's a companion launcher for Dark Souls that lets you change a lot of the DSfix settings as well as general game settings in a GUI. Again, this is one of the many things I fiddled with before getting the game working properly. Here's a screenshot of my current settings in the launcher:

I'm not sure if this is the fix, but hopefully it helps someone out there who is just as frustrated as I was.

My issue was temporary as I was testing out Steam Controller settings. I added a modifier for the right controller pad that changed to touch menu when the right pad is clicked. That was the only change I made and the game started running in slow motion. I removed this new setting and the game starting running like normal again.

I thought I would share this as I've noticed the highest used Steam Controller template is configured this way and this issue may plague many of you.

Hope this helps someone
