1. Dual wielding is not good on Dark souls 1 due to the fact that you can't really combo attack's and due to invincabilty frame's it's REALLY easy to roll out and not get stun locked...
2. Same apply's to PvE altho it would probally be fine for mob's but not bosses... unlike dark souls 2 dark souls 1 does not have the power stance ability allowing you to swing both weapons at the same time...
3. This will limit you GREATLY as most player's use a shield, and this will leave you open to attack ALOT! you will lose alot more then win...
Hope this helped...
This is why i usually dont explain the reasons for it myself, because people like this come along and give the perfect answer. In essence dont duel wield :3
U can only swing 1 at a time so u will only be dealing 1 handed damage not duel wield damage
Move Sets on the Left (blocking hand) are LB = Standard light attack move for the weapon in hand and LT = Parry move. (these are on an XBox controller.. not sure for others).
Normally LB is the Shield block normally and LT is parry or Shield bash with Greatshields so you know which buttons i mean if you are not using an XBox controller.
Some weapons have better parry windows than others. eg Parrying dagger. Others have fancy Parry moves like the scimitar. Other weapons have "meh" parry animations. You'de have to give them all a go to see their differences.
It does not change anything else and you must be confident in your parrying ability to get the best from it but when you are it can be realy good for the parry riposte your way through the game technique.
Remember that certain enemies can not be parried. Things like Rats, slimes etc. ie anything that is a "beast" or such.
You can only parry / riposte creatures properly, that are one size difference bigger than you or the same size. Sometimes you can parry what may seem bigger but not riposte.... This is actually a partial parry where you take a little damage but not all of it and can not riposte.
Also you can not riposte enemies on a different elevation than yourself but parry is possible.
