Best upgrade path for Claw...and Laito or Uchi?

Hi guys. I am using Katana in my RH and I was wondering which is the better one overall. Iato or Uchi. I kind of like Iato moveset more, but that stab with Uchi...damn

And I am also using claw in my off hand as a supprise butt attack and to add a little variaton. Anyone suggest good upgrade path for claw? Simple +15 or to add lightning or something.

The regular upgrade path is best. Split damage makes elemental weapons worse, even if your stats are low.

If your dex isnt too high, chaos with 10 humanity can be good despite the split damage.

And i prefer the Iaito. The stab on the uchi feels too long for me. Uchi only has like 7 more damage.

I dont use katanas much though, im a longsword guy.

I also prefer longswords over katanas. Lighter and looks much cooler, but I am making assassin build so until I get my hands on Tracers and good daggers. This is my best choice :v

I will get katana to +15 but I am wandering about claw. Maybe to make it lightning for extra effect or something ?

Making it lightning would give it a bit extra against shields, but claws would be much better at +15 if you're going for 50 dex

I am going for fast bleeding and supprise attacks. +15 katana and lightning claw for shields. Not bad. In the end I can't really go wrong here, +15 is the best path overall

More vit is good. It loses value after 48 and is pointless after 50. You could also get some attunement slots or keep going in to str. Though people usually consider 14 str the cut-off for a dex build, 16 grants access to the Chaos Blade (as well as allowing you to weild the chaos zwei which can be an interesting utility to pull out unxepected). 28 str is a large investment but will grant access to the Murakumo, one of the most impressive and powerful weapons available (scales A in dex btw). If you get 28 str you'll also be able to use any quality weapon to the fullest potential (2 handed that is).

45 dex will give you a casting speed bonus, if you're using any casts, that is. Pyromancy/sorcery/miracle, all will get casting speed bonuses. 46 dex and above is more or less pointless.

Elemental weapons are for builds that don't have high Str or Dex. If you're going 50 dex you definitely want normal +15. And I agree with AnKalameet that going over 45 dex is not really worth it.

As to Iaito vs Uchi.. I personally prefer the Uchi. The Iaito has a cool moveset and it gets bonus points from me since I'm a Ruroni Kenshin fanboy.. but the Uchi's 1H R2 is far more practical.

Stop at 40dex. However, if you want to use Pyromancy aswel as dexterity I would suggest going to 45dex. Why you may ask? Well, at 45dex your pyromancy casts are faster. Great Combustion or Black Flame are so much better with 45dex and it's totally worth the extra points.

Don't go with an element weapon. If you do then you don't have to put any points in dex or str (other than the base requirements to use the weapon)

As for the best sword? Out of the Uchi and Laito I'd say they are both quite evenly matched, but I do prefer the moveset of the Liato ever so slightly (although tomorrow my opinion might change). When it comes to Katana's though, I'd say the Chaos Blade is the best of the bunch and is my fave weapon in the whole game.

I think people may be exaggerating the benefit of 45 dex over 40 for casting. It's like a frame difference most of the time.

I think that with the ring of favor and protection, it's not that pointeless since it's calculated with percentage, right ?
