White Dragon Breath: Worth the Investment?
Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin there, 50 int is a pretty steep investment for this one spell, and compared to the Faith alternative it seems pretty lackluster. Is there redeeming value in the spell to warrant the huge investment in stats?

PvE: Yes.
PvP: Eh.

It's a real wrecker in PVE. With as many casts as you get, its a little absurd how much you can do with one slot. It - and the available magic damage boosters - kinda ruined sorcery for me.

I've actually already made the investment to use it, I just haven't been able to make head or tails of it. It can't hit something in immediate melee range unless they're huge, ie a crystal zombie in Duke's Archive can avoid it just by being in your face, but if it -does- hit it one-shots those same things on NG+ (using Logan's Catalyst, 50 int). Speaking of range, it doesn't seem especially fantastic compared to the soul spears or even magic arrows, I daresay it's got the shortest range of the non-dlc sorceries. Couple that with a cast time on par with the heavy arrows and I can't figure out if it's actually worth having just for 20 casts.

Well I would get INT to 50 regardless of whether you are using it or not. Personally, I think it sucks though, at least in NG++++ when I can get a bunch of Crystal Soul Spears and Dark Beads that make the spell useless.

Bascially the advantage of White Dragon Breath is in its number of casts, not its power. Crystal Soul Spear not only pierces enemies but it deals more damage.

You get a slight damage boost for the moonlight greatsword/enchanted upgrade too, but it is minor at best. I do use it on my pure spellcaster build PvE wise. But the spell is tricky to handle, it has a LONG cast time and sometimes it misses the target. But it can go through enemies and mow then down in a single blow. And it deals a lot of damage too.

If you got points to waste, why not? But honestly, it is not really worth it.

It's a handy tool to have. It has a slow windup, then plows a furrow like farmer john. Then it does it 19 more times. Sure it's not so effective against crystal zombies in the archives, but think about the rest of the enemies in the game. Ghosts, slimes, mass of souls, hallways filled with anything. Preparing for a speedrun of NG+? Meh, sorcery.
