Best light armor
In your opinion what is the best light armor(s) in the game and why? By light armor I mean that you can still fast roll (under 25% equip load) while wearing it at 35-40 endurance. Gold-hemmed set seems to do pretty well aside from the weakness to curses, and I do like the whole grim reaper look if I use a scythe. The crimson set seems to be great especially leveled up, even if it is weak vs fire/poison/bleed compared to the pyro or gold hemmed sets. The tattered cloth manchette glove piece seems to be really great and is strong compared to other sets in areas where the other pieces of the set aren't. I was also surprised by the silver knight shield. It only had 1 more stability than the tower kite shield for 2 more pounds of weight, but by the time I finished upgrading it had 76(!!) stability which seems awesome for a medium shield.

So which ones do you guys like?

I like using witches cloak with thorn gloves (gauntlets), it is realativly low weight and has poise.

But Op I say google dark souls build calculator to see how everything works, and so you can choose the most optimal stuff, that still lets you fast roll, or even ninja flip

stat-wise, not fashion
head: wanderer, big hat, gargoyle, thief
chest: tattered, dingy
hand: black sorc, sorc, brigand
leg: sorc, hollow soldier, heavy, maiden, brigand

Prepare to look terrible.

It's totally situational, depending on whether I need bleed resistance or fire resistance or whatever. Though, the Dingy Robe is very very good for the weight.. I think it has the highest defense to weight ratio in the game. Excellent magic resistance too.

Poise is the only thing that I haven't really accounted much for since none of the armors i've worn have any. How exactly does poise function? I've been wondering if it is worth it if you only have a very small amount of poise or if you have to have a certain amount for it to actually matter.

Poise prevents you from bieng staggered. The more poise you have the more/stronger hits it takes to stagger you.
I reccomend 30-40 poise if your endurance is high enough. Wolf ring gives 40 free poise as well.

Dingy, gold-hemmed, crimson, pyro, and traveling set are all good for various reasons. I love maiden set for fashion souls too.

Poise controls whether or not you get staggered when an enemy hits you. If you can't get more than 30ish poise then it's not really worth it, as most attacks from enemies will do at least that much. With all light armor, you're generally opting for either the wolf ring or 0 poise. Btw, 0 poise is actually a fun way to play, it forces you to learn dodging and timing.

As of now i'm using Artorias armor, and to insure i can still be below the 25% i use father mask along with ring favor of protection. I might switch this off with a little better armor but overall it's working out well.

+5 upgrades of the Big Hat, Witch's Cloak, Xanthous Gloves (Gauntlets, whichever), and Xanthous Waistcoat is what I'm using, it makes for both decent physical defense and excellent magic defense. I relied on heavier armors for NG and especially NG+ but I've been using this setup for most of NG++ and it's been working pretty well for me so far.

I'm at 40 Vitality and 40 Endurance and combined with a Ring of Favor and Protection and a Cloranthy Ring I can wield a Black Knight Halberd and Greatshield of Artorias with relative ease and with speedy recovery, mostly thanks to the Greatshield's high stability.

The Ninja armor, because it looks badass and works well with the Dark Woodgrain Ring. It also looks quite interesting with the claymore!

The best 'light armour' isn't even light armour. It's hollow soldier waistcloth with Havel's bodyarmour.

Looks absolutely terrible, but in terms of poise (a bit of poise is way more important than a bit of defense due to how defense works in Dark Souls), this is the best.

Please don't use it.

I know this link has already been posted, but it is your best option. To be honest, there are a lot of good armor choices you could chose from that still fall into the category of light. There are only minute difference between a lot of the armor. Without knowing what weapons you want to use, its hard to say. Just use the link and put in your character info and it will optimize armor for you. For pvp, 76 armor is a great stopping point (easy to have with wolf ring) and for pve, you only really need 60 and that is pushing it. Depending on how good you are, you can get away with none. Poise is more important than amor ratings tho.
