I was fighting against Gwyn when i realize something: you can use estus flask as a legit strat to beat him.
I explain better in my video. Please, take a look:

Lol i thought you meant you had done a glitch where your flask was in one of your hands as a actual weapon

I wish I had discovered something like that

Could you show me some content that shows exactly what I tried to do there? Thank you.
I have the same method with BK early game, except with press R1

Parry> Ripost> mid get up animation I press R1 (Mouse 1) > Parry again> repeat till dead

Yes, I do the same.
The question I raise in the video is that you can BOUND enemies to behave the way you want. In this case, the attack with two hands.
Id say the Estus was portrayed as a timing tool rather than a weapon, but this is very interesting none the less

As I explained in the video, when you use Estus while he's down, the probability of gwyn use the two-handed attack is almost 100%. Is not it the same if you do not use, waiting for the attack.

other than timing tool, a way to kinda force him use a certain attack. some enemies try to hit you in particular ways when you drink estus.

edit: ninja'd >_>

It's called script. Enemies react to the environment and you. They don't have real AI. There is no game that has real AI. Only better script. Of course they can be exploited.

Exactly. That's the point. I see people using parry, trying to escape, wearing heavy armor, defending. Perhaps estus can be used as another viable strategy.

But it's exploiting. It's less rewarding. The feeling that you get after you legitimately defeat a hard enemy is a lot more important in my opinion.

I agree.
For example, you can kill the great Ornstein with archery easily. He will not move ever.
Or lock the big Smough behind a pillar while you can cast magic (something Speedrunners like to do).
I think there is always someone who will find a good use for something.

Sure, here it is: http://darksouls.wikidot.com/power-within

People just discover it themselves due to health drainage.

Thank you. Interesting how people learn the same thing in different ways.
But you can not say that most people do it since forever.
I looked at many places and could not find anyone who could explain it.
