Cat covenant ring?

I just joined the forest covenant after killing Sif, I equipped it and after about 1 hour or 2 I haven't noticed any effect.

If I understood correctly, having it equipped and being in a place where you can place soapstones is enough but I am getting nothing from it.

What am I missing?

The servers are weird and you probably have no connection to other players. Get DSPvP Watchdog to check your multiplayer connection.

I got invaded recently by some guy while I tried to summon Solaire for the anor londo boss fight, so I'd say my connection is OK?

Anyway, I'll get that watchdog and see if I can get some info.

Knowing your SL would also help determine if something's wrong.

If someone enters the forest, 1 or 2 of the cat covenant members & ring wearers within SL range are sent to invade. Maybe you are never the one who are sent to invade.

I'm SL 65 currently. Do I need to be human or it works while hollow? Because I've been human for a while but could skip reverting the hollow form if I die to some weirdo.

Steam servers are being stupid. Just wear the Cat ring and you'll invade people in the Forest automatically. However, you probably won't invade anyone, because the Steam servers have been absolute ♥♥♥♥ lately, and invasions have become rare as ♥♥♥♥.

Doesn't matter if you're hollow or human with the cat ring. SL 65 is a little low for a catbro but serviceable, at least. It's entirely possible that you're just not matched with anyone going human in the forest. All your connections could be to players staying hollow, or who are in the covenant, or who killed Sif, or who just aren't in the forest.

I installed the watchdog, I don't notice anything aside from the white text on the top of the screen. Should I be getting anything different?

Actually look at the white text and see how many nodes you have.

It took me 30 minutes to get 1 node, and from there on it took 30 seconds to get 12

I mean being stuck with 0 nodes could mean something is faulty. This is why games drop in price ridiculously with time.

Steam's servers have been throwing hissy fits for the past week or so. It might not be a problem on your end but a problem with Steam.

Then I'll just join the darkmoon covenant and trade a skull lantern for the ring of fog. That's a pity, I wanted to keep 2 lanterns to dual wield for the looks, but having to wait for ages to get a chance at an invasion is ridiculous.
