Bloodborne-style build?
I haven't played Bloodborne (no PS4 for me, empty pockets right here) but I've seen reviews, some gameplay footage and read enough info about it that were I to try one out what would be the best equipment and stats? Based on my conception about the game...

It's a game where blocking attacks is out the window and parrying and dodging are the game. Fast movement and counter-attacks are what it's about. So a high-endurance/dex build would be the way to go, right?

Armor: Chester's Set, well duh. Though I've never cared for the mask forced on the Snickering Tophat. I just want a normal tophat, dammit! So maybe a Pharis Hat would be a good substitute?

Arms: Left hand: Plank shield (looks like BB's wood shield and is apparently as effectual, in that it really isn't), and would only be used for blocking of course, not parrying, like how the wood shield apparently functions, and an Avelyn (a very "Victorian"-looking weapon, plus its rapid-fire attacks make for the game's best equivalent to a quick-firing gun)

Right hand: Here's where I draw a blank, in that I don't know much about comparable melee weapons to BB's. I saw something called a Wheel of Logarius, which I guess would be similar to a Bonewheel Shield, so that perhaps? The claw is fast and causes bleeding (BLOOOOD!) and looks kind of like one melee weapon I saw in Bloodborne, I think (dunno which) so that too maybe? I read you can restore HP by counter-attacking enemies quickly enough. The closest weapon to that is the Server, which just restores small amounts of HP by attacking enemies however. It's a dex weapon too though, so that might be an option.

Rings: A light load overall but depending on your endurance you want it as light as possible for those fast dodges (especially since I read BB does away with equip loads). A Havel Ring and/or Ring of FAP are good choices for this. One of those plus either a Cloranthy Ring for quick endurance recovery or a Leo Ring for stronger counter-attacks.

What do you recommend for a BB-style playthrough to fill the void of not being able to actually play Bloodborne?

Only ones I know are curved swords and straight swords. I didn't try all weapons yet. Logarius wheel actually attacks like a greataxe/great hammer. Overall, there really isn't a way to do a BB build in Dark 1. Way too different to pull off. Also poise kills it.

Dude, shields in DS are not shields in BB. Even the plank shield is usable as a shield. It's actually not that awful. Counterattacking with the Leo ring only works for thrust weapons and only if you attack during the opponents attack animation (but you have no poise, so that's a bad idea). The Butcher Knife (which is really an axe) could maybe be considered similar to the Saw Cleaver and has a similar effect to the Server (just heals for less hp).

Like you said, a crossbow like weapon would work. As for other weapons, there's a scythe weapon in bloodborne if I remember from what I've seen watching a friend play. Also, there's that great sword that everyone seems to use. So maybe find a greatsword weapon that looks similar to it?

I'm doing a BB build too :steamhappy: using Great Scythe(Burial Blade) and dual wielding claws(Beast Claw) I do have the Avelyn in my off hand

Played through NG+ like this. The only tough part was getting in to the forest the back way at the start to buy some claws and a shotel.

Combustion spells and Augur of Ebrietas aren't too dissimilar in function. I also made that build before I played it so I had no idea what would be in it.

They have those freaky spell thingies. Like that tentacle one. Although I keep hearing that the "spells" in bloodborne were pretty crappy.

Like Claybones said,Augur of Ebrietas.Yup spells in BB is crappy because it doesnt scale with your Arcane stats. It does poor damage and it's hard to hit people using the spells/hunter tools

They also consume your silver bullets, so no bullet parry spam.

Yup but people can still make blood bullets by sacrificing their health just to get more casting.Even still, the spells cannot be casted infinitely

Did the same before BB came out. Pharis Hat, Black Cleric Robe, Avelyn in left Hand, I think as a main weapon I used some curved sword like Falchion or Painting Guardian Sword. The swords in BB habe almost exactly the same moveset as the Balder Sword in DkS1.
Of course you can't really simulate the gameplay of BB, it's much faster and smoother than Souls, stamina management almost doesn't matter, you have tons of I-Frames... To get as close possible I would try something like Cloranthy and Darkwod Grain.
