Armor, Shield and NG+. Better be naked?
Like many people, I first played this game on console.
On a given playthrough I spent a lot of souls on an armor ( upgrade and endurence points for decent movement speed).
When I reached NG+, mobs could almost one/two-shot kill me.
So I ended up thinking this about all the armor in DS:
"Poise and anormal status resistence is a good thing, but all the other armor stats are useless".
Is that right?
Am I missing something? ( eg. do certain armor stats scale with the character stats)

About the shield.
I know that their defense status work on %. ( eg 100% physical = block all damage from physical attack)
The stabilty control the amount of endurence lost ( and so what you can a cannot block)
Is there any other thing about shield to know ( eg. do shield stability stack with the character poise)?

There is a reason most people perfer using the lightest armor and being able to Quick roll over being a havel monster.

Forget about stats, it's all about fashion souls.
... that said, using heavy armor to tank is useful in certain parts of the game, just be careful what you tank...

The difference between, say, fully upgraded Giants and any other fully upgraded light armor set is clear in terms of defence. Everything else, meh. If you're being 2 shot, you probably just don't have enough vitality. Or, at least, your vitality stat is relatively low. Even on NG+, if you're rocking a fully upgraded set you shouldn't get 2 shot by anything short of a boss.

Just to say, It was the paladin leeroy armor.
But yeah, the fact that I dont upgrade my vitality don't help.

Fully upgraded? That's very good armor, I used it too in NG+, you shouldn't get 2 shotted, not even 3 or 4 shotted for that matter, unless we're talking about bosses or black knights...

I'm talking about the undead on the hill from firelink, at the start of the game...

Than all I can think of is that your vitality is really low... OR you forgot that you were actually in NG++++, lol!

Everything about armor can be useful from time to time. Keeping the gold hemmed set on you for instance offers a lot of utility. As stated, armor only augments your vitality. If you have crap vitality armor won't do much for you.

Armor becomes more of a fashion statement in NG+(+++++) The game exspects from you to know your parries and backstabs, when it is better to block or to dodge.
Fully upgraded armor can help you to survive some hits, but "soaking" damage is not an option (in NG it was still not a good option)

If this is one of your first playthroughs, do not hesitate to spam vitality in NG+. That way you'll tank more damage and you'll be able to study enemy patterns. But that's just my opinion and personal experience.

If you have less than 15 vitality in NG+, the armor you're wearing won't really matter. Even less than 25 is stretching.
