DLC area Royal Wood not co-op?

I am 83 and killed Sanctuary Guardian. I have made it to Artorias but have not entered his fog gate to fight him yet.

My friend is 82 and also in Royal Wood. We could not summon each other for Sanctuary Guardian and we still cannot summon each other for Artorias.

We are both human, in same area with boss alive and 1 level apart.

Is this area non-coop?

Try checking both of your download regions, I've had trouble with summoning there too

Definitely a co-op area. Nice one too since it's for both Artorias and Kalameet.

The fact that you can put your sign down at all means an area is a co-op area.

Any other reasons why I cannot summon him or him summon me? We've both tried throwing new signs down, leaving game and coming back. Still nothing though.
