The endings are subjective.

Kindle the flame --> eventually they will fade anyway
Walk away --> eventually someone will initiate a new age of fire
It's a cycle that we can hopefully break in DS3
But by kindling the flame you're only delaying the inevitable.
Doesn't matter because if you don't, someone else does.
Dark Souls is supposed to be a tragedy, there IS no good ending or bad ending. It's just, your choice.
There's not really any morals involved, just pick your poison.
