scimitar replacement
hello, I typically play the wanderer class and really enjoyed using the scimitar, but since im at a later area in the game, the scimitar is borderline useless. does anybody know a good replacement and if so, how and where can I find it?

Falchion: found on the wanderer set in Blighttown or farmed from skeletons who wield it. Basically a heavier, more powerful scimitar. Also, make sure you upgrade it as far as you can.

Painted guardian sword's pretty fantastic. Great damage. Scales well too. I dropped the 4kings in one go.

Falchion is the next step up. It's scaling is the same as a scimitar, but its base damage is slightly better.

The Painting Guardian Sword has slightly lower base damage, but it's dex scaling is significantly better, and it has Bleed.

The Gold Tracer has similar scaling to the Painting Guardian Sword, also has bleed, does slightly more base damage, and has a unique moveset... but is a Twinkling Upgrade weapon, so cannot be buffed with spells/resin.

Quelaag's Furysword is another option, but most of its damage is fire, but it's physical side does have decent scaling (better that the scimirat) and gains a buff to both physical and fire damage from your Humanity stat.

These are all good options, and good to have them all for when you want/need something specific. Painting Guardian Sword is probably the best for general use and into later game for the scimitar style due to it having the best dex scaling of the bunch, bleed, and is still able to be buffed with spells/resin. If you don't have resings/spells for casting buffs, Gold Tracer is worth checking out (but it does require beating Artorias in the DLC).

Painting Guardian sword is very short though, that's always worth considering.

hehe, true... but it's not the size that matters, but how you use it that truly counts! ;D

...we're still talking about scimitar style weapons right? ... right?!

*ahem*

Or you could go with a Shotel. It can ignore shields! It's base damage is the same as the Falchion, but it's dex scaling is worse.

Definitely Queelag's sword if you can keep at least 10 humanity on yourself... otherwise, for things resistant to fire there's the falchion, which is basically the scimitar, but better.
Are you looking specifically only for curved swords?
If its for the weapon style, the falchion its a good opcion, a guy using it with coal pine resin gave a good fight in PvP. If you like katanas they are always great in a dex build ,the gold tracer is also a great opcion and if you use it with the dark silver tracer is brutal, they are a great combo with the spider shield or the parrying dager. You get the uchigatana (one of the best katanas) killing the undead merchant in the undead burg and the dark silver tracer and the gold tracer when you give artorias`s soul to lord`s blade ciaran (after you kill artorias obviously)

A fully upgraded scimitar is fully capable of beating the game and playing well into NG+ with the proper stats. If you're having real difficulties, you're weapon's either not upgraded far enough or your dex stat isn't high enough to take advantage of the scaling.

Nah, it's possible to beat the game w/o upgrading dex more than the necessary for using this weapon.
OP just needs to upgrade the weapon.

Some enemies are much more resistant to slashing attacks, which is the only type of attack the scimitar does (along with most other curved swords). Invest in more than one type of weapon so you can be prepared for enemies with different resistances.

Thrusting attacks are better against armored enemies, and thrusting weapons typically scale well with DEX which you have probably already leveled up, so switching to a thrusting weapon for a while should work with your character.

What thrusting weapons are there apart from the rapier?
(new to the game :D ;-; )

Rapiers and spears mainly, but other weapons have thrust attacks too like the longsword's and the balder side sword's strong attacks, arrows too...

Estoc, Balder side sword. Katanas also have thrust attacks.
