Knight Lautrec missing...
I released him from his cage, got his reward, exhausted his dialogue, summoned him for the Gargoyal boss, exhausted his dialogue, killed Capra Demon, summoned him for the Gaping Dragon, went in the catacombs, killed Pinwheel, returned and he is not here, and the firekeeper is alive...
Did I miss something?

But he should still be there... chillin' out. getting high with the firekeeper.

doesn't seem like it's a hundred percent chance he'll be at firelink everytime, sometimes he's not
if you like quit and load the game in front of his lil stalker spot, he's gonna show up

When he's not there that means he's doing something else.

You see. your sarcastic comment would make sense if he wasn't a collection of code with fixed attitudes and actions.

You sound like a hoot and a half...
Lautrec moves after you perform one of three actions: Ring the second bell, kill gaping dragon or pick up the fire keeper soul in Blighttown.

Just reload game

Occasionally he doesn't chill at his cliffside place.
(I guess the idea was that Lautrec is out doing business and following his own agenda)
Just quit and reload, he will eventually show up.

Maybe had to try Capra multiple times, too? Don't judge him.

Lautrec actually mentions some of what he's up to when he leaves Firelink, and it's pretty clear he isn't just sitting there all the time. Once Rhea is lost in the Tomb of the Giants, he mentions meeting a fleeing old man running out of the Catacombs (Either Petrus or a cleric Lautrec killed for humanity). He also subtly implies he's killing other undead for humanity and tries to encourage you to do the same.

So,that means, that Lautrec only wants to save himself and us?What a nice guy.

For him it's just business. He owes the player a favor, and hence he won't betray you and will even help you in minor ways. The Firekeeper however...

It's implied by his armor descriptions and his killing of the firekeeper that he DOES have some sort of plan... But neither this game, nor the sequel, nor even the cut content really even hints at what it is. So in a way, he's actually less developed as a character than some of the NPC phantoms you never get to talk to.

I think Lautrec goes to Anor Londo looking for Fina and realizes it's empty. The realization that his journey was pointless combined with him losing humanity when you kill him makes him go hollow (imo). His obsession with humanity is in his own interest, you need a lot to live comfortably as an undead.

Lautrec leaves firelink from time to time. Dunno why. But I remember I killed the gargoygle then went to murder him for his ring, and he was gone.

That didn't stop him from murdering the firekeeper though...

Lautrec never goes hollow. Even when you kill him there is no indication it caused him to go hollow.
