Target lock keeps changing enemies, so I keep dying.
Is there a way to keep the target locked until the appropriate key to switch targets is pressed? I download the mods fixes, but they did not seem to help this issue.

some mouse wheels are wobbly
use dsfix +dsmfix lol problem solved (and u must delete the gfwl both apps and download the most updated version)
For KBM the standard procedure of lock target changing is that when you flick your mouse to a new target, the target lock moves to that enemy.
I have found a similar problem. I classify it as a problem as once I was fighting an enemy and before I managed to kill him, the lock changed to a guy throwing firebombs from a balcony to which I couldn't get to yet... I guess I might have moved the camera to the left a bit before it switched though...
maybe the enemy you were fighting was too far and the guy throwing the bombs was near enough to be locked-on, so the game switched target. I dunno.
Its time to learn playing unlocked.
Vs 2 guys in forest its a suicide if u lock-on all the time. Same can be said about duel vs skilled player.
Go into the in game game options, turn "Toggle auto lock-on" OFF, then if you want to lock on you have to do it manually. Then it changing who is locked on is completely under your control and if it goes to some other enemy by accident, it is completely your fault and you need to learn the controls better,
I'm not sure what everyone is not understanding. I use KBM. When you lock onto an enemy and move your mouse AT ALL, it will flip you around to be facing a new enemy. Please do not underestimate my use of "AT ALL". This doesn't seem like an issue until you realize that every single time you click you move the mouse a very small amount. So every attack switches to an enemy that is not right next to you. This means that your attack misses and your back is now towards the enemy that IS right next to you who of course attacks and successfully hits you.

When fighting a group, the targeting can switch a couple times a second. I'd attach a clip of this if I could. This is ALL THE TIME. It basically makes the game unplayable with locking which basically makes the game unplayable with KBM period without a fix.
Sorry, I know this is a bit of a necro, but I recently started playing DS1 after beating DS3. I have to agree with the OP, the target lock is not actually "locking".

I personally use an Xbox controller to play, and I experience the same problems with target lock switching at random. A lot of times even when the original target is directly in front of me, if I use the right stick to adjust the camera AT ALL, the target will switch to something further away.

As far as I can tell, the camera controls in Dark Souls are just plain bad. The target lock is also bad. The only solution that I've been able to come up with is to not use target lock at all. Sure, it takes a bit of getting used to, but it's worth it to not have the camera randomly spin to a new target in the middle of a fight.

This is the problem. Exactly this. I want it to lock on manually, and then only unlock that target if I unlock it. Don't move it to another enemy if I move my mouse at all. Makes gameplay against multiple enemies so incredibly annoying.
