Summoning for Smough and Ornstein, lvl 55
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to summon help for those two :D
I placed my summon sign next to Solaire's, but after waiting for an hour while farming souls, it gets boring. Where do people usually place summon signs for them? At the bonfire?
Or is my level too high for that area?
Cheers

40-60 is pretty much the SL for Anor Londo, so your SL is fine. I think people prefer to put their signs down at the bonfire.

First of all, if you're trying to summon help, DON'T place your summon sign. Placing your summon sign means that you're offering your help to other players, and when you do, you can't see summon signs of other players to summon them for help.

People generallyplace their summon signs at the bonfire near Solaire or in front of the fog gate.

Level 55 is about right; a bit above the average but not enough to be outside the matchmaking range of most players in the area.

When asking for help, be sure to include your Steam download region (be specific; some regions/countries have multiple regions. Look at your settings to be sure).

How do you know your Steam download region. In settings, my store country is Finland. Is that the same or something else?

Steam > Settings > Downloads > Dropbox on the right.

And yes, as LightOfAcumen said, do not place your sign down if you are hoping to get someone else to help you.

Also, make sure you are not in the Beta. It was only used during the transfer from GFWL to Steamworks, but that happened a while ago and updates have since happened. Beta is outdated and obsolete, and beta and non-beta players cannot interact at all. To check that, go to Library > Games > Right click on Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition > BETAS tab. Make sure the dropbox there says "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs".

Good luck! and PRAISE THE SUN! \[T]/

Lol, I'm having the exact same issue. Since a few days ago I've fought Smough and Ornstein at least a few dozen times solo and a few with Solaire. I've gotten nowhere. :steamsad: Even at level 58 with upgraded equipment, I have no real defense against either's lightning-slam attack.

To avoid their butt-slam you can roll back twice if your load is not too heavy. I usually prefer to walk backwards and attempt to block it with the Eagle Shield, even if I lose some HP.
